Ohio State’s top defensive end target now appears to be former Alabama edge rusher Qua Russaw, who visited Thursday alongside fellow Alabama transfer James Smith, a defensive tackle. The Buckeyes have also been loosely connected to Missouri transfer Damon Wilson and Florida State transfers Mandrell and Darryll Desir, though none of them have visited Ohio State yet.

Brewu, who 247Sports ranks as the sixth-best interior defensive lineman in the transfer portal, also visited Tennessee and Notre Dame before making his visit to Ohio State. The Buckeyes are looking to add a second defensive tackle to their transfer haul, also hosting former Alabama defensive tackle James Smith on Thursday, after landing a commitment from UCF DT John Walker on Tuesday.

Rasheem Biles Transfers to Texas

After Ohio State beat out Texas to land former Wisconsin linebacker Christian Alliegro, the Longhorns countered by securing a commitment from former Pittsburgh linebacker Rasheem Biles, a Columbus native.

While it was reported that Biles would visit Ohio State shortly after the transfer portal opened on Jan. 2, the Buckeyes never ended up hosting him. Instead, Ohio State focused its transfer linebacker recruiting efforts on Alliegro, ultimately earning his commitment. That said, the Buckeyes will have to face Biles in their second game of 2026 when they play Texas in Austin on Sept. 12.

A four-star quarterback in the 2022 recruiting class, Martin has just one career start, completing 22 of 30 passing attempts for 167 yards and a touchdown for UCLA in a 2024 loss to Penn State. He’s the second quarterback to schedule a visit to Ohio State this week, joining former Colorado quarterback Ryan Staub.

Martin, who had zero passing attempts last season at Maryland, told On3’s Greg Biggins that he’s also planning to visit Memphis.

Northwestern TE Visiting Ohio State

As it awaits an NFL draft decision from Max Klare, Ohio State is hosting another transfer tight end, bringing in former Northwestern tight end Hunter Welcing for a visit on Friday, one day after he entered the transfer portal, according to On3’s Steve Wiltfong.

Welcing caught 28 passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns last season at Northwestern, his first year as a starter after five years as a backup. A seventh-year senior, Welcing has one more year of eligibility.

Howard, who has one remaining season of eligibility, saw no playing time in his lone season as a Buckeye. He’s the older brother of rising sophomore Ohio State running back Bo Jackson.

Staub made one start for Colorado in 2025, completing 19 of 35 passes for 204 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions in a loss to Houston. For the season as a whole, he completed 30 of 55 passing attempts for 427 yards with three touchdowns and four picks.

A redshirt junior with two remaining seasons of eligibility, Staub would add veteran depth behind Julian Sayin at quarterback for Ohio State alongside redshirt freshman Tavien St. Clair and true freshman Luke Fahey.

Frazier ran for 520 yards and two touchdowns on 116 carries as a redshirt freshman at Michigan State last season. He has two remaining years of collegiate eligibility and is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 28 running back in the transfer portal.

A native of the Columbus suburb of Westerville, Ohio, Brewu recorded 36 tackles, seven tackles for loss, one sack and one forced fumble in 2025, earning All-ACC honorable mention honors. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 5 interior defensive lineman and No. 44 overall prospect in the transfer portal.

Ohio State still has a major need to fill at cornerback with Davison Igbinosun and Lorenzo Styles Jr. out of eligibility and Aaron Scott Jr. and Bryce West entering the transfer portal, but both of its visitors so far at the positions, Roland and Kayin Lee (Tennessee), have now committed elsewhere.

Grant Mills Transfers to UMass

Mills joined the Buckeyes last offseason as a walk-on transfer from North Carolina. He saw no game action in his lone season at Ohio State. His departure leaves UCF transfer Dalton Riggs as the only long snapper on the Buckeyes’ 2026 roster, so the Buckeyes will likely add a walk-on long snapper to back him up.

CB Target Commits to Texas

According to Pro Football Focus, Alliegro logged 449 snaps in 2025, including 238 in coverage, 172 as a run defender and 39 as a pass rusher. The 6-foot-4, 247-pound athlete totaled 53 tackles, eight tackles for loss and four sacks in 10 appearances.

Davis-Swain was the second defensive tackle target to come off Ohio State’s board on Monday, joining UCF defensive tackle Horace Lockett, who was scheduled to visit Ohio State later this week but chose to withdraw from the portal and stay at UCF instead.

Tegra Visiting Auburn and Kentucky

Tshabola, Ohio State’s starting right guard for the last two seasons, was heavily pursued by Kentucky as a high school recruit before signing with the Buckeyes.

Potter started Washington State’s first three games of the 2025 season, completing 67 of 95 passes for 604 yards and four touchdowns with three interceptions, but did not play again for the rest of the season. Should he join the Buckeyes, he’d likely be Ohio State’s No. 3 or 4 quarterback behind Julian Sayin and Tavien St. Clair, giving the Buckeyes another depth option alongside incoming freshman Luke Fahey.

WR Target Commits to LSU

Ohio State was expecting to host Tre Brown later this week, but the former Old Dominion wide receiver came off the board before the Buckeyes had a chance to bring him to campus as he committed to LSU on Monday.

Ohio State, which hosted former Texas wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. over the weekend, is seeking a starting-caliber wide receiver to pair with Jeremiah Smith and Brandon Inniss in next year’s lineup, with Carnell Tate expected to enter the NFL draft.

Another UCF defensive tackle, John Walker, remains a transfer target for the Buckeyes.

Henry played primarily on special teams at Bowling Green, appearing in all 12 of the Falcons’ games this past season. That’s where he’d have the best shot at contributing at Ohio State, though the Buckeyes are also in need of cornerback depth.

Coleman hails from Warren, Ohio, and was a four-star recruit in the 2025 class. He is the No. 1 edge rusher and No. 5 overall prospect in the transfer portal, according to 247Sports.

Ohio State will need to continue pursuing transfer defensive ends with Caden Curry out of eligibility and C.J. Hicks, Logan George and Dominic Kirks all entering the portal. Former Penn State defensive end Chaz Coleman is viewed as the Buckeyes’ top transfer target at defensive end, though Ohio State faces competition from LSU and Tennessee for his commitment.

Tegra Tshabola Enters the Transfer Portal

Tegra Tshabola entered the transfer portal on Sunday after two seasons starting at right guard for Ohio State, though struggles in 2025 prompted his rotation at the position. It could be the beginning of attempted offensive line upgrades for the Buckeyes after the unit fell short in their final two games of the season, or it could clear the way for Joshua Padilla or Gabe VanSickle at the spot.

Mylan Graham Enters the Transfer Portal

Ohio State hosted a veteran running back who could provide depth behind Bo Jackson in 2026 as Florida transfer Ja’Kobi Jackson visited Ohio State on Sunday, according to On3.

Jackson ran for 506 yards and seven touchdowns on 95 carries as Florida’s No. 2 running back in 2024. He ran for 98 yards on 27 carries on four games in 2025 before a season-ending injury sidelined him.

Jackson will be a seventh-year senior in 2026, receiving a waiver for an additional year of eligibility after starting his career at the junior college level before transferring to Florida in 2023.

Old Dominion WR to Visit OSU

Former Old Dominion wide receiver Tre Brown will visit Ohio State on Tuesday and Wednesday after also visiting LSU, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Brown was one of college football’s most explosive receivers in 2025, ranking seventh in the FBS in yards per catch (20.05) with 38 receptions for 762 yards and four touchdowns.

Colorado DT Sets Official Visit to OSU

Former Colorado defensive tackle Brandon Davis-Swain will make an official visit to Ohio State on Jan. 12, his agency told 247Sports.

A Michigan native who was a four-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, Davis-Swain started eight games for Colorado in 2025, recording 15 tackles with 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and one forced fumble. He’s already visited Texas A&M and is also looking to set visits with Georgia Tech, Mississippi State and Miami, per 247Sports.

Ohio State Hosts Ohio TE on Visit

With Will Kacmarek out of eligibility after two years at Ohio State, the Buckeyes could add another former Ohio tight end to their roster to help replace him.

Lettermen Row reported that Ohio State hosted former Ohio tight end Mason Williams on a transfer visit on Saturday. The Bobcats’ top tight end in 2024 and 2025, Williams has made 45 catches for 487 yards and five touchdowns over the past two years.

Florida DE Interested in Ohio State

On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported Sunday that Ohio State is “among the schools of interest” for Florida transfer defensive end Jayden Woods, along with Texas, Oregon, Texas A&M and Missouri.

A four-star recruit in the 2025 recruiting class, Woods made an immediate impact for the Gators as a true freshman, recording 28 tackles with five tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble. He’s ranked by 247Sports as the No. 7 overall prospect in the transfer portal.

Rutgers CB Likely to Visit Ohio State

After hosting La’Khi Roland and Kayin Lee this weekend, Ohio State could bring in another transfer cornerback target early this week. Former Rutgers cornerback Bo Mascoe is set to visit Texas on Monday but is also looking to visit the Buckeyes, according to 247Sports’ Chris Hummer.

Mascoe was an All-Big Ten honorable mention selection in 2025 after starting all 12 of Rutgers’ games at cornerback. He’s ranked as the No. 4 cornerback in the transfer portal by 247Sports.

Ohio State Hosts Former Maryland CB

After losing Aaron Scott Jr. and Bryce West to the transfer portal, Ohio State brought in a transfer visitor on Saturday who could help the Buckeyes replenish their cornerback room. According to Lettermen Row, former Maryland cornerback La’Khi Roland visited Ohio State on Saturday.

Roland started six of Maryland’s last eight games at cornerback in 2025 and recorded 21 tackles with three interceptions, including a 100-yard pick-six vs. Towson. A three-star recruit from Georgia’s Cedar Grove High School – the same high school as Auburn transfer cornerback Kayin Lee, who will visit Ohio State on Sunday – Roland has two remaining seasons of eligibility.

Isaiah Kema Enters Transfer Portal

A backup offensive lineman who quietly joined the Buckeyes as a scholarship offensive lineman last summer, Isaiah Kema entered the transfer portal on Saturday after one season as a Buckeye.

A three-star recruit who originally signed with Oklahoma State before going on a two-year Mormon mission, Kema appeared in four games for 31 total snaps as a backup center in his lone season as a Buckeye. He’s the second Ohio State offensive lineman to enter the transfer portal for 2026, joining Devontae Armstrong.

Texas WR Expected to Visit OSU

While Ohio State didn’t pursue transfer wide receivers with Brian Hartline coaching the group, that could change under new wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton, as the Buckeyes will reportedly host Texas transfer DeAndre Moore Jr. for a visit after he visits Kentucky, per reports from On3 and 247Sports.

Moore played primarily in the slot for Texas, where he caught 77 passes for 988 yards and 11 touchdowns over the past two seasons.

Buckeyes to Host Massive Nose Tackle

Horace Lockett, a 6-foot-6, 355-pound nose tackle from UCF, will reportedly visit Ohio State along with Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ole Miss and South Carolina.

Lockett recorded 13 tackles with three tackles for loss, two pass breakups and one sack in 2025 before suffering a season-ending injury. He’d bring one year of eligibility to the Buckeyes.

USC defensive tackle Devan Thompkins, who’s ranked as the No. 2 defensive lineman in the transfer portal by 247Sports, told On3’s Hayes Fawcett that Ohio State is one of five schools standing out to him as a potential transfer destination along with Alabama, Auburn, Clemson and Georgia.

Thompkins, a fifth-year senior defensive tackle with one remaining season of eligibility, recorded 31 tackles with 6.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, two pass breakups and one forced fumble for USC in 2025.

A native of Dayton, Ohio, O’Berry was productive at the FCS level, recording 52 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and seven pass breakups in 2025.

Ohio State is also pursuing former Penn State defensive end Chaz Coleman, who’s believed to be the Buckeyes’ top target as the transfer portal opens.
