Ohio State has added a veteran long snapper to replace John Ferlmann.
Dalton Riggs, who was UCF’s starting long snapper last season and BYU’s long snapper in 2024, announced his transfer commitment to Ohio State on Sunday.

Riggs brings one year of remaining eligibility to Ohio State.
Per his UCF bio, Riggs was one of three long snappers in the Big 12 with at least 100 snaps to have 0% of his snaps marked as inaccurate on field goals and extra points in 2025. He had 28 snaps faster than 0.9 seconds in 2025, tied for the second-most in the Big 12 this past season.
Riggs will likely be Ohio State’s starting long snapper next season as Ferlmann and his backup in 2025, Collin Johnson, are both out of eligibility. Ohio State also has one returning long snapper, Grant Mills, who transferred to OSU last offseason from North Carolina but did not see any game action in his first year as a Buckeye.
Riggs is Ohio State’s second transfer addition for 2026, joining former Ohio tight end Mason Williams.
