Mike Conley will play for a new team in his 20th NBA season.

The 38-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the Boston Celtics, according to ESPN's
Shams Charania
.

Conley becomes the 14th player in NBA history to reach 20 seasons, as he will play for the fourth team in his career.

Conley joins the Celtics after four years with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He came off the bench last season for the first time in his NBA career, averaging 4.5 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 18.4 minutes per game, all of which were career lows (54 games, 15 starts).

Conley started five games for the Minnesota Timberwolves this past postseason due to injuries to Donte DiVencenzo and Anthony Edwards. One of those starts included a 12-point, six-assist performance in a Game 1 win over the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference semifinals.

While Conley’s production isn’t what it once was, he remains heralded for his leadership and selfless nature. He was named the NBA's Teammate of the Year in 2024 and has won the NBA's Sportsmanship Award a record four times.

In an interesting turn of events, Conley was actually traded twice last season before returning to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was traded to the Chicago Bulls, who then sent him to the Charlotte Hornets, only for the Hornets to cut Conley, allowing him to re-sign with the Timberwolves. He didn't play a single game for the Bulls or Hornets, despite the trades.

The fourth overall pick in the 2007 NBA draft, Conley started his career with the Memphis Grizzlies. He spent 12 seasons in Memphis before joining the Utah Jazz in 2019. The Jazz traded Conley to the Timberwolves during the 2022-23 season.

Across his first 19 NBA seasons, Conley has totaled 16,715 points, 6,782 assists, 3,547 rebounds and 1,638 steals.

The highest-paid professional athlete in Ohio State history, Conley is one of four players from the 2007 NBA draft who are still active, along with Kevin Durant, Jeff Green and Al Horford.
