Nick McLarty is seeking a punting job elsewhere.
After two years at Ohio State, the 6-foot-7 Australian punter has entered the transfer portal with three years of eligibility remaining as a rising redshirt sophomore.

McLarty entered Columbus touted as having a massive leg and showed it at times in practice, but never developed the consistency to overtake starting Buckeye punter Joe McGuire. McGuire will be a redshirt junior next season, making it two more years McLarty may have had to wait for his opportunity.
McLarty finishes his Ohio State career with three total punts for an average of 36.7 yards. McGuire punted 29 times for the Buckeyes in 2025, averaging 42.4 yards per boot as he steadily came along at the end of the season. There's still a chance OSU looks over its portal options at the position, but for now, McGuire is set to be the team's punter again in 2026.
