The 6-3, 193-pound guard averaged a career-low 10.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game while shooting 40.5% from the field and a career-low 29.5% from beyond the arc in a career-low 19 minutes per contest. Russell played in only 26 games during the 2025-26 season while dealing with an illness, hamstring soreness and a right foot sprain.
Entering his 12th NBA season, Russell will now be on his fourth team in as many seasons, as the former Buckeye tries to contribute as a role player for the Wizards in 2026-27, a contract year for the 30-year-old.
Russell is one of two former Buckeyes on the move this summer, as Mike Conley agreed to a one-year deal with the Boston Celtics on July 1.
