One of Ohio State's top depth pieces at wide receiver will continue his career with a new team next season.

Bryson Rodgers' representation, Net Sports Management, told 247Sports on Thursday that Rodgers will enter the transfer portal to pursue a new opportunity with two years of eligibility remaining.

Rodgers missed three games with injury this season, but played 129 snaps off the bench for the Buckeyes, still the fifth-most in their receiver room behind their trio of starters (Jeremiah Smith, Carnell Tate and Brandon Inniss) and redshirt freshman Mylan Graham. He has six receptions for 79 yards and his lone career touchdown, an 11-yard snag on 4th-and-5 in the first half against UCLA while filling in for an injured Tate.

Rodgers has a total of 11 catches for 125 yards and that lone score in his career at Ohio State. He also entered the transfer portal during the Buckeyes' 2024 CFP run, but ultimately decided to stay in Columbus.

A four-star prospect who played his high school ball in Zephyrhills, Florida, Rodgers could be a logical addition for newly minted South Florida head coach Brian Hartline, his current position coach at Ohio State. Zephyrhills is a 30-minute drive from South Florida's campus in Tampa.

Rodgers had an outside shot to win a starting job alongside Smith and Inniss in 2026, with Tate likely to depart for the NFL draft as a projected first-round pick. His primary position is in the slot, however, which is also where Inniss prefers to play. With Rodgers' departure, Ohio State's third starting receiver spot will likely come down to a contest between Graham, freshman Quincy Porter and the recently-signed Chris Henry Jr., all of whom are five-star prospects.

Rodgers is the first Ohio State player to announce plans to enter the transfer portal in January. It has not yet been confirmed whether he will remain with the Buckeyes during their College Football Playoff run.
