Just spoke to WR James Clark who recently picked up an offer from the Buckeyes.
He has already officially visited Nebraska, Northwestern, and Purdue. The Purdue coaching change is going to get them left out of the picture.
That means he has two official visits left to take. He will be taking one of those this weekend to Clemson.
Clark's last official visit will be the following weekend to Florida or Ohio State. Florida is pushing hard still and has an ongoing relationship with Clark, while the Buckeyes have just joined the picture.
Talking to Clark, I do not expect the Buckeyes to get that last official visit.
This one should come down to Florida and Clemson.

Thanks Derek. Not really the info we wanted, but good to know where we stand.
Ah nuts. Well, we ain't going to win them all.
"Ah nuts." ........... Is that you, Lenny?
So now Gibson and Clark are likely out? We need to get Corey Smith now
Derek, I was hoping you or someone on the staff could answer a few questions. What happened with Corn Elder's visit? Is he still a possibility? Is Corey still an option? And my last question is there genuine interest from any of the Oregon commits?
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
Move on. IMO there's only 5 guys they should continue to recruit; Bell, Wilson, the Robinson twins and Corey Smith (who I'm not 100% sold on). See how many Urban can get and move on to 2014. Bank some scholies if need be
Agree, except I'm sold on C Smith and thinking that the Robinsons are a lost cause
I posted on what I have from Wilson and I have nothing on the Robinson twins at the moment.
I think all the offers and the staff's reluctance or Elder's reluctance here is telling. Slim shot, if any, for him in my opinion.
They brought in Corey Smith, while committed, and he came, so I think there was mutual interest there. Stay tuned on that one. The longer it goes on without a commitment I become less optimistic about the chances though. Would have to be something holding it back.
ESPN had an article earlier about the twins and one or both of them said they're staying with Oregon no matter what, so it doesn't look like they'll be in play.
I gotta say the WR situation looks like a mess right now. I won't count out Urban, but whoever the Buckeyes land will probably be somebody nobody expected before last weekend.
A mess might be a bit of an overstatement. Jacobs and Marshall are 2 pretty good receivers. Sure, it would be nice to get another receiver in this class, but it is not a necessity.
I am very excited about what JM can do in Urban's offense. But it's clear Urban wants another WR, and it's the attempt to fill that slot that is the mess right now.
We're going to end up with a big time Sparty flip in 6'-5" Drake Harris to own outside the hashes.

Harris is 2014 and we had the info on him as well.
maybe urban should just bank the scholarships for 2014, unless he can get bell and/or wilson.
I second that. Lots of high end talent in 2014 that we are in the running for. (Of course, bell is someone you cant say no to)
I go back and forth about banking them, but as long as we are careful to to extend offers wisely, having a full cupboard and then managing the roster makes us most competitive
I've heard the name Darren Carrington come up. What's the chances with him. I just watched his scout video and he is exactly what we are looking for in my opinion.
I hope carrington gets an offer..

unlike others i dont see jacobs being a reg receiver... i see him more as a kick punt returner... i hope im wrong but generally guys his height arent big time receivers
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
He'll get time at WR, but I agree he'll be the main returner for sure given his skillset. I think we'll see him in larger WR sets spreading the field, you have to respect the longball with him if he can get off the initial block (concern because of his size obviously). I think they will find ways to use him, but I can't see him being a starting WR through his career unless he beefs up a bit. It is not an easy thing to do, but he can make a HUGE impact on special teams and large WR packages.
Jacobs will need a year for his body mass to build. He will not contribute his freshman year and thats not an insult its reality at a major D1 unless you are an AJ Green or just dont have any returnees (aka WVU). I think Marshall is the only WR//RB contributor this year unless we find one of those top shelf receivers.
Agreed, it takes a special body type to be ready for duty your first year. Look at Thomas, he even filled out like a BOSS before the season started and he didn't get a start or contribute much even though he enrolled early. Jacobs is WAY behind body mass wise and will need this summer, fall, and next offseason to fill out for D1 football. Unless he wants some concussions and broken bones!
I think current depth more so than his size will be the reason Jacobs will not be playing this year. Smith, Brown, Hall, Thomas, and Spencer are all going to back. Add Marshall into that list and you have a solid 2-deep rotation. I don't think there needs to be any more receivers in this class...unless they can find an elite talent in the next couple weeks. I would rather see another Offensive lineman or bank the scholarship.
I think Corey Smith, if he signs, will crack the two-deep. He's got 2 years of JuCo experience, so he should make a smooth transition to the D1 level.
Agreed
Well guys there's a fella in the NFL who plays for the Philadelphia Eagles who would beg to differ about what kinda impact a player can have with that size. Taivon's measurables are almost identical to him (10lbs weight difference; in which I'm sure he'll gain with coach.)
Then playing in Meyer's spread with the additions of JM, possibly CS, along with the talent already present, imagine a team having to defend this kid in the slot with their 3rd or 4th best cover guy with a S/LB worried about JM or EZE coming out the backfield or in the opposite slot position & BM5 always a threat to run.
Next year is really going to be unfair for opposing defenses.
"Leave...Your...Mark..."
Bring in the Oregon recruits...the Robinson twins....Wilson...whoever's interested in coming to OSU. I'm game...too bad on Clark but next one up...

I think another WR is a necessity or the staff wouldn't be trying so hard to land one.
Edit: I am a n00b, guy is 2014
Just responded up top. We got the latest on Harris here.
He's a 2014 WR. Gotta ways to go.
