I briefly spoke with 2015 long snapper Liam McCullough from Columbus Worthington Kilbourne last night. There has been some message board confusion whether or not he had a scholarship offer from Ohio State or not.
The 6'2 205 pound McCullough was recently named the number two long snapper in the country by Ricky Rubio. Here is a scouting report from Rubio:
Liam is snapping with incredible confidence and is simply fantastic right now. He has easy D1 size, snaps a nice, crisp, fast ball that jumps back to the punter. Stands tall and just keeps improving. He is excelling at the TOP 12 camp and he is leaving no doubt that he is one of the the top snappers in attendance. He doesn't get intimated by older Long Snappers at all. Great drive and he can be one of the great ones.
Liam McCullough told me that he has a preferred walk-on offer from Ohio State, but recently picked up scholarship offers from Michigan State and Wisconsin after camping.
Current LS Bryce Haynes would be a RS-SR when Liam McCullough would be a true freshman at Ohio State. That would give him a year to redshirt and bulk up, similar to what Haynes did. However, don't look for McCullough to be a Buckeye unless they offer a full scholarship.
"It would be very hard to pass up a scholarship from another school", McCullough explained to me when asked if walking on to Ohio State was a possibility.
The highly rated long snapper told me that he has no favorites nor is he leaning to any school at the moment. His recruitment has really taken off this past week.
