Former Ohio State wide receivers have made more than half a billion dollars in contract extensions over the past two offseasons.
On Thursday, Chris Olave and the Saints agreed to a four-year extension worth up to $132 million, including $90 million guaranteed. The deal keeps Olave under contract in New Orleans through the 2030 season.

Olave joins the Seattle Seahawks’ Jaxon Smith-Njigba (four years, $168.2 million), the New York Jets’ Garrett Wilson (four years, $130 million) and the Washington Commanders’ Terry McLaurin (three years, $97 million) as former Ohio State wide receivers to sign massive offseason deals. The four deals total $527.6 million in total compensation.
ESPN’s Katherine Terrell reported Thursday that the extension ends a minor “hold-in” for Olave, who only participated in individual position drills and walkthroughs during the Saints’ first two training camp practices. The deal also comes less than two years after Olave sustained at least two known concussions during the 2024 season.
Olave missed the final eight games of the 2024 season after being taken off the field on a backboard following a hit to the head against the Carolina Panthers that November. He consulted with specialists outside the Saints’ facility and briefly contemplated retirement before committing to return for the 2025 season.
Healthy entering the 2025 campaign, Olave enjoyed the best season of his NFL career, recording 100 receptions for 1,163 yards and nine receiving touchdowns in 16 games.
Olave thanked the Saints last December for supporting him through his health struggles.
"This is where I want to be, man. They took a chance on me," Olave said then. "They traded up in the draft to be able to come get me. They've been nothing but good to me. They was here for me last year when I was going through that tough time, but they told me to take my time. They stood by my side."
