Johnathan Hankins' football career has come to an end.
The former Ohio State defensive lineman is retiring from the NFL after 12 seasons.

Hankins was forced to miss the entire 2025 season due to a severe back injury he suffered after he re-signed with the Seahawks in May of last year. Seattle waived him from the reserve/non-football injury list last December.
The 34-year-old notched 433 tackles with 44 tackles for loss, 18.5 sacks, 52 quarterback hits, 13 forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and 13 pass breakups in 169 games (142 starts) throughout his 12-year career. A former second-round pick by the New York Giants in the 2013 NFL draft, Hankins played for six different teams, concluding with the Seattle Seahawks in 2024.
At Ohio State, Hankins became a starter as a sophomore and recorded 67 tackles with 11 tackles for loss and three sacks. The following season, Hankins totaled 55 tackles with four tackles for loss and one sack in 2012. He received All-Big Ten and All-American honors following his junior season before taking his talents to the NFL.
