Jalens dad JJ is from Ohio but now lives in Az. Jalen is expressing interestt. He is a 6'7" 250+ Defensive End. His dad JJ was a little bit bigger so Jalen will probably get a little bit more size.

Yes. He is doing well at some big time camps. He has 5 good offers that I saw and will grow. He has family in Sidney and Piqua.

Didnt go to Sidney but an area school and I know they had a pretty good center for the BBall team back what would be 17-18 yrs ago, want to say it was JJ Jelks.

It was JJ Jelks playing for Sidney. The kid was pure "physical speciman." I new JJ's old man, and he was massive also.

Those knowing who I am talking about (JJ) knows the possibilities of a son of his with his size playing football. I was told a story about Bo S. (as an AD) coming up to JJ asking him in LV at a National AAU tournament why is a man like you playing basketball then told him if he would play FB that fall he would give him a full ride.

This kid is a 3 star right now but I like looking for the hidden gems instead of the heralded.

I'm fine with talking about sleepers just as I didn't mind the numerous Timmon threads. All I ask is that we avoid a rehash of last year where every thread's comments, no matter the original post, devolved eventually into Timmons. It was like 11W's own Godwin's Law last year.

I went to high school with his dad, pretty good friends back in the day, and still talk occasionally thru social media. Dad was big and ripped. Unfortunately for our football program, he was all round ball. Hope Jalen continues to impress at camps and lands an offer. Would suck if he ended up at Wisky and turns out to be a stud.

Yeah I definitely played the wrong sport. But I made sure my son didn't and it was a good choice. Keeping my fingers crossed that Urban will come calling. Whiskey has already offered and yes it would be a shame and sad if he couldn't play at OSU. Still proud of his accomplishments and he still has a year left to improve so keep watching....

Ive been working in AZ quite a bit and just happened to be talking football with my employees out there and they mentioned the name Jelks and I knew JJ and it just happened to be his son. I will go see a game this fall. I think there has to be a good chance Cajun and I may know each other. Too much common knowledge between us.

He looks too stiff to be a good college end but with his size and strength, he should easily move into a 3 technique position. 4.7 40 is nice too. He looks like he just bulls over a running back and could handle a OL pretty easily.

and at the very least, 6'7'' DT would make for a great field goal unit guy!

We all prayed in High School that JJ would play football but it wasn't meant to be. ;-)

He was a beast on the basketball court though! I will be following this closely and hope the Scarlet and Grey come calling!

That is one athletic big man. Moves like a guy a lot smaller. Reminds me of those long rangy D lineman that gave Troy Smith nightmares in the '06 championship game. SpoonerBuck you seem to have a means of getting to inside sources. Push this kid to someone if you indeed do. You never know. I think of getting these guys like Bosa lined up shoulder to shoulder across that D line.....

I'm with you, LG. You can never have to many players with this kind of size and mobility. This kid is coming from a family of "natural" athletes, big and ripped with little effort. Imagine what happens after two years in a weight program like the Buckeyes. It could be scary.

Nope. He's up to 8 offers but nothing from the Bucks. The Ducks but not the Bucks. He will be at a camp there in Ohio in a few weeks. Maybe that will get him more exposure out that way.

I see 2 wins on their schedule. I think Kentucky will slowly improve their program, but I really don't see them contending for bowl games in the foreseeable future.

Also just saw that Jalen just became friends with Mark Pantoni on Facebook. Mark is the Director of Player Personnel at Ohio State University Football in case you didn't know. I would say that the Buckeyes know who he is at this point.

Talked to JJ last night briefly via Facebook. Jalen is not camping this June with the Buckeyes due to his busy schedule that was already in place but JJ assures me that the interest is still there from both sides.
