I have confirmed that ATH Dontre Wilson will indeed take an official visit to Texas. He is down to Oregon, Ohio State, and Texas but remains committed to the Ducks.
An official visit to Texas, to me, means they are squarely in this one. The Longhorns are the home-state team so it is something to pay attention to moving forward.
Wilson's coach told me things are still a toss-up between the schools and I expect a decision on Signing Day.

Ok State still in there or did I miss something?
His dad announced earlier this week that he was not making his OV to Oklahoma State, so they must be out.
I'm pretty sure last word was that he was 50/50 OSU & Oregon with him possibly visiting Oklahoma State. Now he's visiting Texas.
Gotta love recruiting.
No mention of Oklahoma State to me.
So after his Texas visit, I guess he'll be 33.3/33.3/33.3
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
To complete the math and be a little more optimistic...
OSU: 33.4%
Oregon: 33.3%
Texas: 33.3%

Now I'm liking our chances!

Class of 2008
So your saying his preference for the schools resembles ManBearPig
What school do you like Dontre?
Dontre are you just looking at things in the office and saying you love them?
Lol, yes.
excuse me?
Didn't he say he wanted to get away from home?
First to 33.4% wins.
Thats odd cuz I swear the other week when Texas showed interest he said it was too late and he wasn't interested. Honestly if the kid has any common sense he'll take one look at the Texas program and offense and realize its not a good fit. Mack Brown has taken that program no where recently with some of the top football talent in the country.
That was literally the exact thought that crossed my mind when I saw this thread. They have no offensive leadership whatsoever, their QB "talent" is marginal, and that Swoopes kid coming evidently is a project at the very least, if not potentially not even a QB. He started out extremely high across the recruiting services but dropped substantially throughout the year, as he has major accuracy and poise issues.
IMO, I can understand the home team draw, but if he wants to truly maximize his offensive potential, Texas wouldn't even be my first or second choice in the state of Texas, let alone in the nation.
Texas visit threw me off, probably just doing the same thing EzE did, showing his state some love.
The kid doesn't want to stay close to home, something he's said pretty consistently through the process. I don't think Texas has much of a shot here
Give me Clark, Bell, and Timmons to finish out the class.
Give me Wilson and Bell and Ill be jumping for joy. If you want to see me do the flip throw in Clark too.
I'm not that big on Wilson. I'd love to have him, but I'd rather have Clark. I'm starting to think we only land 1 more guy.
So will Urban happen to have JT Barret randomly decide to visit Texas too?
Considering he's already enrolled at OSU, I don't think that would fly.
LOL +1
Beware the draw of 6th St.
The Texas program is close to shambles, but what a city.
Dontre, do you really want to play for old-man Mack?

Funny thing is the reason Wilson is looking outside Oregon is his coach left the program. I don't think Mack Brown lasts another 4 years in Austin.
IMO, I think we get EE or Dontre, not both.
Dontre Wilson news on Oregon site. Not a re-affirmation of his commitment, but good for the #Ducks (VIP) bit.ly/116fqGd #SigningDay
from jc shurburtt retweet from Dave biddle. So no embed, iPad.
site is 247$ fwiw
Im really not that high on Clark enough to pick him being in this class over Timmons or Wilson.
I would love to land Wilson. If not then Timmons, then Clark.
#Buckeyes
Clark to me looked better than either Dontre Wilson or James Quick. I thought Wilson looked kind of slow, but definitely had "missability", i.e. great lateral quickness.
I give you my pretend upvote. Come on 100!
I was going to throw you an upvote....then I noticed that every pro sports team you're a fan of is from that state up north.......lets just say I've got my eye on you rook.

Don't worry, I am Columbus-born and OSU-educated. My professional sports allegiances are due to growing up partly in Toledo and Detroit (my parents are flies... they followed the smell from Columbus)
I see. Welp, I might as well come clean....I was born and raised in that state up north until half way through my junior year of High School when my family moved to Cleveland, OH. My Dad played Golf for scUM on scholarship and I have several cousins, aunts and uncles who attended scUM. I'm the black sheep of my entire family as I also did my learning at Ohio State. When we moved to Cleveland it was the year the Indians were in the world series against the Marlins...I instantly fell in love with Cleveland sports....and obviously solidified my status as a Buckeye by graduating from OSU. I grew up a Tigers, Lions, Redwings, Pistons fan but now I stand firm in my fandom to the Indians, Browns, Blue Jackets and Cavs. Regardless of whether or not I relocate geographically, I'll remain loyal to Ohio sports teams. Go Buckeyes!
+1
P.S. When you earn your right to up/down vote....please don't be 'that guy'.

Texas may be a real player now. Their RB decommited which would leave Dontre Wilson as the lone/featured back. This seems to be what he wants and one of the reasons he picked Oregon in the first place. Read more about it here: Dontre Wilson will take final official visit to Texas
Actually Texas had a three running back system last year, two of them sophomores(Bergeron and Brown) and one a true freshman. So best case scenario Gray, the freshman, leaves after his junior year and Wilson becomes the feature as a junior. Not exactly wide open.
12-OH
This would only apply if they are recruiting him soley as a RB. As everyone here probably knows already Urbz is recuriting him not just as a RB but as an APB that can line up in the slot.
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
I just wrote a brief synopsis, the article explains their theory of why Texas is now getting an OV so late and maybe a real player much betther then I did. Since their RB in this class decommitted, it would leave Dontre Wilson the lone running back in this recruiting class, something that neither tOSU nor Oregon can claim. When Texas had their other RB commitment they were recruiting Wilson as an all-purpose back and not a "featured" or "load" RB. It's not the only reason, but they think it's a big reason why they think he is visiting Texas all of the sudden. The article also claims that Oregon is telling Wilson he can be a "featured back" a la LaMichael James rather then the RB/Slot WR or an all-purpose back that tOSU is recruiting him as. They seem to think he wants to be a "load back" rather then an an "all-purpose back". They could be wrong, but it seemed to be a good take on why he is visiting Texas so late and all of the sudden. If anyone hasn't already, I'd suggest to just read the article rather then going off of my short recaps. It explains their theory much better then my two breif recaps have.
He would not have been the feature RB in the Oregon class either. They have this guy named Thomas Tyner committed. Here he is pretty good...
so if it's a "tossup" between three schools, what are they tossing? A pyrimidal shaped die?
That has 4 faces though so if they put OSU on two sides that would be fine by me

Oh boy, this may be more difficult than expected, send Dontre and his family this link:
http://www.statisticool.com/3sided.htm
Was gonna upvote this, but then I realized (realulzed?) that the fewest sides a die/dice can have is four, no?
Sphere doesn't count...literally!
check out the above link on 3-sided die.... like a triangular prism with the triangle faces rounded off
That wouldn't exactly work though, I don't think. The closest would be this:
The number at the top, when rolled, is the number you rolled. Or, like your link above, do the six-sided die with opposite sides the same color.
Buckeye Nuthouse Member 2011-13 season

Google it, it works. It isn't a normal geometric shape with 3 sides but it is an effective die.
timmons clark wilson and bell, why do we even keep talking about this, tOSU is going to get at least one of them and they are all players i could see playing if not starting next year, i could easily see vonn bell as being one of those freak standout freshman whose gmae is propeled by aggression at first and by seasons end finding a perfect blend of playing with smarts and playing with reckless abandon
And we already got Clark ;)
SOURCE?
.......or just a gut feeling?
Are you talking about Corey Smith?
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Yup.... <--- fail
Please downvote me for name fail, I deserve it.
Nah, dumb reason to downvote someone. +1 for manning up.
Now I have to wrestle if I'm being an even bigger jerk for not giving you what you asked for......Bah, I just went cross eyed.
"I'm One Bad Buckeye, and I approve this message."
I was hoping you knew something about Clark committing. lol
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Not that I doubted we weren't in it, but still good to hear.
Could be something, could be nothing, but it's interesting that NONE of the Rivals writers in this article think Wilson is coming to Ohio State
That list should be ignored for the most part.
Kynon Codrington has Hunt going to M*chigan when it was already said that he was down to Oregon, and Cal. Two people also have Dontre going to Texas when he hasn't even visited the school yet.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
I don't think OSU is even in the game for Wilson...think he is all Oregon
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
In the game? He did visit last weekend, which was his first OV since committing to oregon. His Dad did say it's 50-50 between oregon and tOSU. How is tOSU not in the game?
Meh, I don't really want Wilson that much. I'd rather him skip pass and Timmons get in the class. That way if you believe the rumors, Elliot will stay commited and we'd get someone who wants to be a Buckeye, not someone who kinda thinks Ohio State would be alright.
The problem with Timmons being in this class is that he might have to win three Heismans to live up to all the hype.
timmons might have to win 4 heismans' to live up to the hype.
Well played.
I hope this is right.

Nice! I was just about to post this and you beat me to it! So I'll still embed it for you:
Thanks for the info fellas. Sounding good to me!
Just read some very good news on 247 bucknuts supporting Derek's tweet on Dontre Wilson according to Bucknuts.
EDIT: Buckeye in SEC, good job, beat me to it.
Bring on the gray box, bring on the gray box!!
No teasin' us now!!!
My bet is that if Wilson chooses OSU, Elliot doesn't.
Would suck if it happens that way.
I don't think so... Elliott and Wilson are going to play different positions.
Of course they are. I just have a hunch that Elliot isn't convinced.
IMO it started the whole Elliot ordeal.
why are we so concerned with losing a guy who might be a little scared of competition and run off to mizzou? he looks like a great player but he's technically questioning his own ability to compete with dontre if this is the case
He might just be questioning the word of the staff that they'd just recruit one RB. Words matter to some people.
He's denied being scared of competition. He said he was just taking 1 more look at Mizzou. His dad tweeted a lot of pro OSU stuff this weekend. I'm not worried about Elliott leaving. I'm more hoping we land Wilson, Bell, and Clark to go with Elliott.
I think we are fine with one or the other. However, I certainly don't want to miss on both.
I think they're both coming to OSU.
I can't read all of the posts over at the Oregon 247 VIP board or the OSU VIP board, but the ones I can -- it almost looks like the Oregon fans are all but conceeding Wilson to OSU based on whatever the 6PM update (by staff on both boards) was. Interesting, if so! Guess we'll know if there's an official public announcement on it.
sweet my tweet made it on Elevenwarriors! (makes my day)
Rivals also saying osu is the leader and an announcement coming next 24 hours
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
Wow this team will be fast next year!!
Yeah Wilson shouldn't affect Elliot at all. Elliot is a legit running back and Wilson is a slot. Elliot still has to compete with Dunn and Ball in the coming years though.
I think osu dropped Timmons for a reason...think things were explained to Elliot on the in home with drayton and Herman.
Maybe this is why Timmons was dropped. Knew they had Wilson
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
It's going down!
