The Nike Football Training Camp series and the Elite 11 regional QB competition are both at Ohio State this weekend, and I've already mentioned that we'll now see Brandon Harris in Columbus because of it this weekend, but another major name is now reportedly visiting OSU this weekend for the camp; the nation's top player, DaShawn Hand.
Hand visited Ohio State in November for "The Game" but the Buckeyes were never able to gain much traction with the Virginia star for whatever reason. I found it very interesting – and kind of disturbing – that one of Hand's "posse" at the time of the OSU visit was decked out in the highlighter yellow garb associated with Michigan. Not only did I find that disrespectful on Hand's part, but it certainly made me think those close to him are pushing for UM as a final destination.
This weekend is a unique situation, he has the camp on Sunday and if he wants to turn the trip into an unofficial college visit, one where he's allowed to talk with Buckeye coaches, etc. then he'll have to do that either on Saturday or Monday per NCAA rules as it pertains to recruiting while third party camps are being held at your institution.
Long story short, no real reason to get hopes up, but it's a good - and probably final - chance for Urban and his staff to get back in the race for Hand, who is set to announce his final list of schools soon.
