A weekend that was headlined by the Buckeyes offering two class of 2015 prospects also brought news of which recruits were getting ready to host some of the Ohio State coaching staff.
It was a fairly quiet weekend on the recruiting front, and has been a little over a week since the Buckeyes nabbed their latest commitment in the class of 2014. Even so, the staff has been tirelessness working to make sure head coach Urban Meyer is pleased where Ohio State stands in the recruiting world. Two prospects, '15 ATH/RB Chris Warren and '15 WR Demarkus Lodge have already caught the eye of the Buckeyes' recruiting staff and both received offers during this past weekend.
"I found out about the offer when Coach Herman had told Coach Webb that they had an offer for me, I was really excited. If I had a chance to play with them I know that it would be a great opportunity because of how much history they have. And when I think of Ohio State, I think of a program that is most notorious for winning and winning with physicality. It fits my attitude and personality."
— 2015 Texas RB Chris Warren to Land-Grant Holy Land
Buckeye assistants Luke Fickell and Ed Warinner made a visit to Bishop Ready Friday to check in on 2014 offensive lineman Brady Taylor. We caught up with Taylor to get the low down on the visit and more.
After planting the flag in numerous states recently, a couple Ohio State assistant coaches were back on the familiar streets of Columbus Friday. One of the recruits the staff stopped in on was 2014 Bishop Ready lineman Brady Taylor "Coach Fickell met with my head coach and watched my film and Coach Warinner visited with me at school," Taylor told Land-Grant Holy Land "Coach Warinner stopped by to introduce himself and let me know they are interested and want me in camp."
Team first for McMillan (rivals)
HINESVILLE, Ga. - As the nation's top ranked linebacker, Hinesville (Ga.) Liberty County product Raekwon McMillan can have his pick of just about any school in the country. During the spring evaluation period, college coaches have flocked to Liberty County High School to check on McMillan but the 6-foot-2, 241-pound prospect has been putting his team ahead of his recruiting during the spring as he tries to prepare his squad for a big 2013 season.
McMillan doesn't let recruiting get in the way of his obligations to his team.
"I've just kind of set my recruiting to the side a little bit to give my teammates the time that they deserve during spring ball," said McMillan. "I know that if I am just dedicating myself to recruiting that we're not going to have a great season."
With so many offers and a bright college future ahead, it would be easy for McMillan to pace himself during his senior season and take things a little easier on the field this fall but he is doing quite the opposite.
Georgia Recruiting: Nick Chubb, “…I’ll be at Georgia on Friday” (The Lady Sportswriter)
With Top 5 running back Sony Michel already in the fold, most believe Nick Chubb is alot less likely to commit to the Bulldogs when he makes his final decision just over a week from today.
The talented in-state back has been looking around and, with his list now narrowed to three (Georgia, Auburn, and South Carolina), he is on-track to to make his announcement, live on ESPN, on May 28. Prior to that, however, he plans to visit each school and the Georgia Bulldogs will get the first crack this Friday.
So, does Georgia still have a fighting chance at landing Chubb, or is the in-state star just giving the homeschool some respect? In my humble opinion, I don’t think this is a situation where a kid is playing a school for whatever he can get, Chubb has a genuine interest in going to Georgia, and the possibility of playing alongside another back (which is a given if Michel sticks to his pledge) isn’t likely to deter him one bit.
