Another four-star prospect is joining the fray along Ohio State's 2027 offensive line class.

Four-star offensive tackle Jimmy Kalis, the No. 308 overall prospect and No. 31 offensive tackle in the recruiting class of 2027, committed to Ohio State on Friday over fellow finalists Georgia, Texas, Clemson, Miami and LSU.

As Kalis' finalists indicate, his offer sheet is even more impressive than his composite ranking. Alongside the six powerhouse programs that made up his finalists, he received offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee and Texas A&M, among a host of others.

The Kalis File

  • Class: 2027
  • Size: 6-6/280
  • Pos: OT
  • School: Central Catholic (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania)
  • Composite Rating: ★★★★
  • Composite Rank: #308 (#31 OT)

Ohio State extended its offer to Kalis in March 2025, and since then, he's been a frequent visitor to Columbus. He took a trip last April, then again in May, came to the Shoe for the Buckeyes' 2025 season-opener against Texas and visited Ohio State again less than three weeks ago.

Kalis, whose half-brother is former Michigan offensive lineman and Ohio State commit Kyle Kalis, attends Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh. Kalis helped the Vikings all the way to the 2025 Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class 6A state championship game as a junior, where Central Catholic fell to La Salle College 34-20. Kalis was named first-team All-State by the Pennsylvania Football Writers as the Vikings finished with a 13-2 record.

Two of the top things that stand out on Kalis' tape are his short-area explosiveness and his physicality. He can get an immediate punch to knock back defenders, whether firing off the line of scrimmage or squaring up linebackers at the second level. And he doesn't stop until his man is in the dirt. His lateral movement also stands out, which translates well to pass blocking and blocking in space. His feet aren't as fast going downfield, and he'll work to improve his pad level a bit in college, but there are a bevy of traits that can make him a really good collegiate lineman.

Kalis joins fellow four-star offensive tackles Kellen Wymer and Brody McNeel and three-star interior offensive lineman Mason Wilt as Ohio State's offensive line commitments in the recruiting class of 2027. Tyler Bowen's position group is the most filled out of any in the Buckeyes' class thus far, as the safety position is the only other to hold multiple commitments at this stage: Four-star Eli Johnson and three-star Angelo Smith.

Kalis is the 10th overall commitment in Ohio State’s 2027 class.
