Eli Woodard changing his name to Eli Apple, to honor Tim Apple, who has raised him since he was 2 years old. Really a tremendous story and an inspriring change by Eli.
He released a statement this morning:
"A wise man once stated, 'Fatherhood is not biology. Fatherhood is responsibility.' From the time I was two years old my dad, Timothy Apple, has been my father. He's nurtured, provided, and protected our family. I am the man I am today because of his tireless love, and commitment to our family. So it is with great pride and honor to carry his last name. I am truly blessed to be Eli Apple. Go Bucks!"

Saw this before but it's such a great story...I'm going to comment twice. Really love hearing Eli's story about his step father. I hope my kids feel this way about me when they get older considering I'm also a step father. Sure would be cool...thanks for sharing Alex.

Great story and tribute to Tim Apple. The missing piece in the lives of so many kids is a loving, supportive father figure, be it biological or not. Kudos again to Tim Apple.

at first i was upset because woodard i thought is more intimidating. but this is just a really mature decision and i applaud him for it. hell to the yeah for being a good parent and having the cogniscence to recognize it! and he ended it with go bucks!!! woo!!! and like mshaf said there are so many more opportunities to troll on opposing fans with that name.
