Whyce, a Dayton native who plays at Trotwood-Madison High School, is ranked as the No. 33 overall prospect and No. 5 defensive lineman in the 2028 recruiting class. He’s the No. 2 player from Ohio in the 2028 class, per 247Sports’ composite rankings.
The Whyce File
- Class: 2028
- Size: 6-4/270
- Pos: DT
- School: Trotwood-Madison (Dayton, Ohio)
- Composite Rating: ★★★★★
- Composite Rank: #33 (#5 DL)
He becomes Ohio State’s second commitment in the 2028 class, joining running back Elijah Newman-Hall.
Whyce is the third player to commit to Ohio State this week, joining 2026 offensive tackle Landry Brede and safety Khmari Bing.
Though he’s only a sophomore at Trotwood-Madison, Whyce had already received offers from more than a dozen schools, also including Miami, Maryland, Illinois, Louisville, Missouri, N.C. State, Purdue and West Virginia, among others.
Already standing at 6-foot-4 and 270 pounds, Whyce projects to play defensive tackle for the Buckeyes. Pairing excellent athleticism with his long frame, Whyce – who is nicknamed “Juice” – emerged as an immediate difference-maker for Trotwood-Madison as a freshman, blowing up plays in the backfield with his quickness and nose for the ball.
With more than two years of high school football still to go, Whyce still has plenty of room to grow in his game but has the tools to be a potential future star in the middle of Ohio State’s defensive line.
