The Buckeyes showed the Wolfpack that Ohioans run in packs on Saturday.

Ohio State flipped 2026 three-star offensive tackle Landry Brede from North Carolina State just over a month after offering the in-state prospect, giving the Buckeyes four OT commits and five total offensive linemen in the current cycle.

The Brede File

  • Class: 2026
  • Size: 6-5/280
  • Pos: OT
  • School: Mentor (Mentor, Ohio)
  • Composite Rating: ★★★
  • Composite Rank: #1111 (#91 OT)

It's the first flip from another school of the cycle for the Buckeyes, who lost three-star tight end Corbyn Fordham as he flipped to Florida State earlier this month. Ohio State also lost four-star cornerback commit Jakob Weatherspoon to North Carolina in July.

Brede, who comes out of Mentor High School in Mentor, Ohio, is ranked as the No. 1,117 overall prospect, the No. 93 offensive tackle and the No. 47 player from the Buckeye State in the 247Sports composite rankings. He'll be the lowest-ranked of all Ohio State's 2026 commitments, but it's hard to tell that from his film.

Listed at 6-foot-5 and 280 pounds, Brede has fantastic feet for his size, which gives him great lateral movement. He drives through contact and finishes blocks with authority, driving defenders into the ground throughout his tape, which also speaks to his motor.

In addition to Ohio State and N.C. State, Brede holds offers from Arkansas, Florida, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan State, Missouri, North Carolina and Pitt, among others.

Brede committed to N.C. State on June 25, following official visits to the Wolfpack, North Carolina and Pitt. Then Ohio State got involved, extending him an offer on Sep. 6.

“I grew up watching them, so it was a big, big offer for me,” Brede told Eleven Warriors last month.

He quickly visited Ohio State on Sep. 13 for the Buckeyes’ game against Ohio, returned on Saturday for the Minnesota game, and pledged his services to the Buckeyes thereafter.

Ohio State can afford to take a developmental prospect at the tackle position with two top-150 prospects already committed at the position in Sam Greer and Maxwell Riley, who both also hail from Ohio. Brede will need to work on his pad level and add some muscle mass before he's ready to play in Columbus, but he's got enough tools to be a future contributor.

Brede plans to enroll at Ohio State in January.

His pledge gives the Buckeyes 21 commitments for their 2026 class. There's a good chance offensive line coach Tyler Bowen stands pat with his five pledges up front after Ohio State missed on its top two remaining targets, tackle Felix Ojo and guard Darius Gray, in July and August. Brede joins Greer, Riley, three-star offensive tackle Aaron Thomas and three-star interior offensive lineman Tucker Smith in the Buckeyes' OL haul.
