Former Ohio State and Penn State wide receiver Julian Fleming was sentenced to nine to 23 months in prison, with an additional six months of probation, after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter and DUI for a May 2025 ATV accident that killed his girlfriend, Alyssa Boyd.

Boyd was killed when an ATV being driven by Fleming collided with a deer in Columbia Township, Pennsylvania. Fleming, who is named in legal documents as Julian Crushshon-Fleming, admitted to drinking at the scene and recorded a blood-alcohol level of 0.118%, over the legal limit of 0.08%. Fleming originally faced 11 charges, including four felonies, but those charges were dropped as part of Fleming’s plea agreement.

“While we were confident that we could prove Crushshon-Fleming committed a DUI offense, proving the connection between that and the death of the victim would be difficult,” Bradford County District Attorney Richard Wilson said in a statement, according to the Centre Daily Times. “While Crushshon-Fleming’s intoxication did not help matters, a jury would likely conclude that the collision with the deer caused the riders to crash, and therefore the victim’s death, not the alcohol intoxication.”

Fleming played for Ohio State from 2020-23, playing in 38 games with 22 starts and catching 80 passes for 990 yards and seven touchdowns. He transferred to Penn State for his final year of college football in 2024.
