The nation’s No. 2 wide receiver has passed on WRU.
Five-star wide receiver Monshun Sales committed to Indiana on Friday, choosing his home-state Hoosiers over a group of finalists that also included Ohio State, Texas, Alabama and LSU.
Sales is the first-ever composite five-star prospect to commit to Indiana.
The 6-foot-5, 195-pound standout from Lawrence North High School was one of Ohio State’s top remaining targets in the 2027 class alongside four-star defensive tackle Karlos May and five-star running back David Gabriel Georges. The Buckeyes are considered the favorite to land May when he announces his commitment on Saturday, while they’re battling Tennessee for Gabriel Georges, who will announce his commitment on Wednesday.
With Sales off the board, Ohio State's 2027 wide receiver class still features Ohio five-star Jamier Brown and Florida three-star Jordan Donahoo. Brown ranks as the No. 4 wide receiver and No. 25 overall prospect in the class, while Donahoo is the No. 163 wide receiver and No. 1,283 overall recruit. The Buckeyes also recently landed commitments from 2028 five-star receiver Jett Harrison and highly touted 2029 receiver Austin Miller.
Ohio State will continue its efforts to add a third receiver to its 2027 class. Now that Sales is committed to Indiana, Cortez Hankton will likely focus those efforts on Benny Easter Jr., the No. 11 receiver and No. 64 overall prospect in the 2027 class, who took an official visit to Columbus in May despite being committed to Texas Tech. Easter remains committed to the Red Raiders, but the Buckeyes haven’t given up in their pursuit of the four-star wide receiver.
