ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Brian DeLucia and Dean Wolosiansky have been selected as captains of the 2011 Ohio State baseball team and will lead a young Buckeye team onto the field this weekend at the 2011 Big East/Big Ten Challenge in St. Petersburg, Fla.
DeLucia is a fifth-year senior from Columbus and Bishop Watterson High School and majors in communications, while Wolosiansky is a fifth-year senior from Uniontown, Ohio, and Green High School and is studying civil engineering.
They are two of seven seniors among the 2011 Buckeyes, a new-look group from the coaching staff - Greg Beals and his staff are in their first year - to the 15 new student-athletes on the team. Both are honored to have been chosen by their peers to lead this team, which opens its season Friday, Feb. 18 against Cincinnati at Al Lang Field/Progress Energy Park in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Brian is the brother of former OSU pitcher Dan Delucia and leads the team with 10 HR and 65 RBI coming back. Wolosiansky was named 2nd team All-Big Ten two years ago as a sophomore after notching 11 wins, but struggled a bit last season going just 4-8.
Woo-hoo expanded 11W coverage!
