Saying that maybe Purdue deserves a little respect as a rival is probably one of the dumber claims that you'll ever hear me make, but hear me out: since Holy Buckeye, Ohio State has played the Boilermakers nine times. Four of those nine games have been decided by a touchdown or less, and Purdue has won three of 'em overall. In fact, the Buckeyes are 2-3 in West Lafayette since 2004, and only narrowly avoided another loss at home thanks to the heroics of one Kenneth Guiton.

So what I'm saying is that Purdue is kind of scary in their own weird way, and while I don't expect Ohio State to lose on Saturday, maybe the Boilermakers will provide just the kind of midseason competition that the Buckeyes need to jumpstart some parts of the football team that have stalled out recently.

It should be fun in any event, though, and though travelling to Predictably Murderous Hitchhiker, Indiana isn't ever anyone's idea of a good time, the atmosphere in the stadium should be pretty awesome, and Beau and I ruminate on all of this.
