Jamier Brown hosts a backpack giveaway
Ohio State's commits giving back to the community has been pretty common of late. Earlier this month, wide receivers Chris Henry Jr. and Kayden Dixon-Wyatt hosted a back-to-school giveaway for children in need, handing out backpacks and signing autographs.
Five-star 2027 wide receiver Jamier Brown did something similar this week, giving away meals and backpacks for deserving younger athletes. He also signed autographs at the event.
Feeling beyond blessed to finally make a dream come truemy first ever backpack giveaway! Had the chance to give back to some amazing athletes and scholars who truly deserve it. The love and energy today was unreal! https://t.co/QRurCbM4Fm

Brown is ranked the No. 6 player and No. 1 receiver in the 2027 class. He’s emerged as the crown jewel for the Buckeyes in that cycle and he only lives an hour away from the school. Other schools will surely attempt to flip him until the end, but considering he already has a Block O tattooed on his arm, it would take something seismic to shift him off his commitment.
“Coach Brian Hartline is a great coach, coach Ryan Day is a great coach,” Brown said of OSU in May. “Great people. Ohio State, it’s just lovely there, they’ve got a lot of great people and it’s a great environment. Hartline wants to see me just get better each and every day. He has a great connection with me and he’s loved talking to my family.”
Kelsey Adams puts Buckeyes in top 10
One of the top offensive tackles in the 2027 class is starting to narrow his recruitment. Four-star Georgia standout Kelsey Adams released a top 10 on Wednesday consisting of Ohio State, Georgia, Nebraska, Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, Florida, LSU, South Carolina and Kentucky.

247Sports releases initial top 100 prospects for 2028 class
In recruiting, teams must stay a few cycles ahead to be competitive. Ohio State certainly fits that mold and has already offered nearly 50 players in the 2028 class thus far.
On Wednesday, 247Sports released its initial top 100 players for the cycle, with various Ohio State targets featured in the rankings.
Notable Ohio State targets that cracked the top-10 players in the country in the rankings include quarterback Jayden Wade (No. 1), defensive tackle Marcus Fakatou (No. 3), wide receiver Brysen Wright (No. 5), cornerback A'mir Sears (No. 6), wide receiver Eric McFarland (No. 7), offensive lineman Major Green (No. 8), defensive lineman Jameer Whyce (No. 9) and wide receiver Jett Harrison (No. 10), the younger brother of former Ohio State standout Marvin Harrison Jr. Whyce, who plays for Trotwood-Madison High School, is ranked as the top player in Ohio.
Ohio State’s lone commit in the 2028 class, running back Elijah Newman-Hall, is ranked as the No. 65 player in the country.
