Ohio State quarterback commit Brady Edmunds practically already bleeds scarlet and gray.
Edmunds has emerged as the Buckeyes’ top peer recruiter for the 2027 class and has gone out of his way to pitch other prospects on joining the Buckeyes when given the opportunity.
The 6-foot-5, 215-pound signal caller will be out peer recruiting in full force for arguably the biggest recruiting weekend of the year, as Edmunds confirmed this week he’ll be at Ohio Stadium on Aug. 30 for the season opener against Texas. A few dozen premier prospects will be in attendance, so Edmunds will have his work cut out for him.
OSU’s future signal caller has also developed a strong bond with five-star Ohio State wide receiver commit Jamier Brown and says he’ll be in town a day early to watch Brown’s high school game against Pickerington Central on Aug. 29.

Despite living across the country, Edmunds spent a week in Columbus this summer and attended multiple recruiting camps so he’d have hands-on coaching from Ryan Day and quarterbacks coach Billy Fessler.
“It felt really good,” Edmunds said in June of his camp experience. “Just competing with the guys and more so, I think like coaching-wise, Coach Day and Coach Fessler, every single rep, talking me through things. I was getting pulled aside for some one-on-one coaching with Coach Day, so that was awesome.”
Per 247Sports’ composite rankings, Edmunds is considered the No. 90 prospect and the No. 8 quarterback in the 2027 class. In his sophomore season, he completed 62% of his passes for 3,222 yards and 36 touchdowns.
Krew Jones visiting for Penn State game
A talented pass rusher in the 2027 class will visit Ohio State for its crucial showdown against Penn State on Nov. 1.
Four-star Utah defensive end Krew Jones told Rivals this week he’ll be back on campus for what could be another top-five showdown and it will be his first trip back to Ohio since he visited last spring. He was offered by Ryan Day personally on April 25.
“It meant a lot, I mean, just showing me that it's in my right path, I'm on the right track to get what I want to get,” Jones said of the offer last spring. “I mean, getting offered from a big school like that really shows you that you just keep working and you'll get what you want.
“(Coach Day) just told me that he liked my talent, he was watching my film, he saw what I could do, and he just told me to keep working, and he sees me as a great big athlete and a great player for them.”
Jones is the No. 138 prospect nationally and the No. 18 edge in the 2027 class.
Derrek Cooper could visit OSU this fall
Is the book officially closed on Ohio State and five-star running back Derrek Cooper? Well, in short, don’t get your hopes up, but never say never.
Per On3, despite his commitment to Texas, Cooper is considering taking gameday visits to other schools, including Miami’s contest against Notre Dame on Aug. 31. Cooper also told On3 he’ll “probably” take gameday visits to Ohio State, Georgia and “some other schools too.”
A little inside baseball: The Buckeyes rarely host a recruit on a gameday visit if they think it’s a complete waste of time on both parties’ ends, so if he actually shows up in Columbus, that would be an indicator that there’s at least a puncher’s chance here.
