I’ve lived in Ohio for all but one year of my life (and Columbus for the last seven), but I will be moving to the nation’s capital for graduate school this upcoming fall. Mind you, I’ve probably visited the city 10+ times because my immediate family all went to school in D.C., but I’ve only been there once since turning 21. So, I’m pretty familiar with my surroundings, but I’m interested in how people adjusted to living there and what were the things that took awhile in which to get acclimated, best places to go for certain things, etc. Advice from former Columbus based Buckeyes would help me comparatively, as well.
I’ll be living just a couple miles north of the National Mall, for the sake of reference.
