D'Angelo Russell has a new home in the NBA.
The former Ohio State All-American signed a two-year, $13 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks, where he will join forces with three All-NBA talents Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson and Anthony Davis, as well as No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg. Russell will have a player option in the second season of his deal.

Russell is coming off one of the worst seasons of his NBA career, as he averaged 12.6 points on a 52.2 true shooting percentage, the 183rd mark among the 192 players who scored more than 10 points per game, according to Basketball Reference. Still, Russell is 29 years old and can be a serviceable injury replacement for Irving, who suffered an ACL tear in March and will start the season on the sidelines but hopes to return to the court next January or February, according to Mavericks coach Jason Kidd.
In a career spanning 10 years with the Los Angeles Lakers (twice), Brooklyn Nets (twice), Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves, Russell has made 629 appearances in an NBA uniform. He averaged 17.3 points, 5.7 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals in those contests while shooting 42.7 percent from the field and 36.5 percent from behind the 3-point line.
Before his time in the Association, Russell was a one-and-done prospect at Ohio State in 2014-15. Across 35 appearances for the Buckeyes, Russell made 44.9 percent of his shots and 41.1 percent of his 3s while averaging 19.3 points, five assists and 5.7 rebounds per game. He earned consensus All-American honors for his performance that season, which ended when Ohio State fell to Arizona in the NCAA Tournament's Round of 32.
