As has been stated before, big offensive tackle Demetrius Knox was formerly of Springfield, Ohio.
A Texas commit, Knox is visiting family in Ohio the weekend of April 19-21.
Knox has told me that during that trip he will give Ohio State a visit. OSU was believed to be Texas' strongest competition before he committed to the Longhorns.
Update: Demetrius Knox is actually on OSU campus today (3/23) with teammate and fellow Texas commit Daniel Gresham. He's pictured above posing with Braxton Miller at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

very interesting. Full court press for sure.
This is a very good sign... What do you think the chances of a flip are by NSD?
Is visiting Ohio State a consequence of visiting family, or is he visiting family because he wants a place to stay while checking out OSU?
This is good news. He seems like a big Buckeye fan and was very high on tOSU. Many speculated that he only had shown interest in Texas to get them to solicit an offer to his teammate. Well see how this plays out.

Big recruiting year for O-Line... Roll out the red carpet.
Nothing like dancing on the field in 02...
Nice, certainly unexpected!! Hope all goes well!!

My guess is that some of the rumblings in Austin about Mack being on his way out once Texas AD Dodds retires this year or next has Knox giving OSU a second look.
There's that and the fact that there are recent scandal rumors that may affect the football program.
Besides questions about staff tenure and scandal, a coaching staff that includes an OC who cheated on his pregnant wife may give Knox pause too.
I was wondering if the scandal rumors were playing into this as well. It would be a huge coup to get him to flip...crossing fingers at least.
I would bet murmurs about a possible coaching change in the next 1-2 years are as or even more unsettling for him.
I would imagine he reads Texas message boards (just like some OSU recruits read 11W or Scout or 24/7 forums). Many, if not most, Texas fans are unhappy that Mack is still the coach. The fan base is one more 8-4 or 7-5 season from taking up pitchforks and encircling Belmont Hall (Texas' version of the WHAC).
+1
Ain't that the truth. And we'd be feeling the same way here as well in their situation. With the talent they bring in year and year out, their coaches are just not getting it done.
I've been predicting a flip from him since he committed if urban presses him
O'Deez330
stark county football
Would be great if he flips to the good guys
Agree with the other guys here, seems like he's always been a big OSU fan based on his time spent living in Ohio. Especially a big Terrelle Pryor fan.
Gotta think that combined with Urban Meyer putting in work, if we can get him to visit we've got a chance. Always seems difficult to pull those guys out of Texas and California -- but, with Barrett, Mitchell and Wilson from last year's class alone, gotta like our shot! Herman is one heck of a recruiter down there!
Would love to replace our Glenville mouth with a bigger, better mouth with a Texas drawl
I'd love it if we were able to have both! No reason to replace something that has done very well for us
I just want a dude named Demetrius on our team.
Doesn't Texas (Mack Brown) have a "no visit" policy once committed? Wouldn't this seal the deal he would not be going to Texas?
QuadrupleZ
I'm sure Brown will make exceptions, Texas isn't in the same place they used to be to pass on top-rated kids.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
The kid is taking time to visit. There has to be some interest. #urban #closer
IIRC tOSU was his favorite team growing up still think he committed to Texas bc his best friend Gresham did.
Weird thing is, in the end, Gresham could end up at Bama and Knox at OSU.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
Very, very interesting with Knox sneaking onto campus and bringing a fellow commit with him.
Looked like a good practice to attend, as they had an offense vs. defense scrimmage.
Texas fans certainly aren't happy.
Remember, Mack Brown instituted a no-visit policy recently on commits, too.
This will get interesting. I don't expect a quick commit to OSU or anything like that, but a situation to track moving forward.
Looking Better and better that he commits . Just posted that man there a picture of urban Meyer and him he is having so much fun wonder I he commits this weekend . Even mentioned he almost cried and then put a picture of the shoe up I think he commits soon or may have already .
This is very intriguing. Especially since gresham is with him, the "no visit" policy etc...
Big News! Great get in Dylan, not sure he will ever start, who knows...but great in depth (D-line recruiting has been 5 star). Knox getting a visit in and loving it--awesome. Still VERY early..i hate recruiting at this time of the year--but its always entertaining.
I don't know why you mention that he may never start. Is this based solely on stars? Thompson is a Luke Fickell/Tim Anderson/Garret Goebel type hard-nosed interior defender who will utilize his leverage and balance to tie-up/overcome blockers.
Additionally, at this stage of the game, the OSU coaching staff isn't taking early commitments from players they perceive as "depth-providing" talent. This kid has productive, efficient, team leader written all over him.
This weekend just keeps getting better.
"Anyone can run the option. I can run the option."
-Urban Meyer-
Would be a huge get! This Oline recruiting class may be the best in the nation when it is all said and done.
His tweets have been ridiculous. He said he almost cried when he walked into the Shoe. Hard to believe he could feel as strongly as he does about OSU and not flip. Let's pull a Jordan Hicks in reverse.
Gresham isn't that big, he could be just another big RB, not a FB if he can pull it off. Although with so many players being a possibility, as much as I would like to see Knox come aboard, not sure if there is enough space to take on a RB that doesn't really fit well. Wish we could take them both, love having players that have bros they want to play with. Just adds to the camaraderie of the team.
This team has such a family atmosphere, gotta love this! Go Bucks!
I made this point in the other thread, but I disagree in the sense that there are packages where OSU planned to use a FB (and did in the first few games when Boren was still on offense) last year. They have to be versatile as they're being used as an H-back moreso than a true FB, but there's definitely a place for them in Meyer's offense.
And who says we can't turn him into a MLB?!?!
Great point was thinking of how much more dangerous the offense can be with a guy who's on a different level athletically than Boren esp in the red zone.
I've got a good feeling about this one. The vibe that is coming out of Buckeye sports is undeniable. Top Coaches, top programs, TBDBITL, and TBDF'sITL. It's a giant athlete magnet that is constantly pulling on the hearts and minds of the elite.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
I think he will be a good player, but I am disappointed that he projects as a guard. Need OT's!! :-)
Did Mack say the offer would be pulled if a kid visited somewhere else or that they would "look" at pulling the offer?
(For the record, I think this is all smoke to try to keep a kid committed).
Wow,this is a surprise,in an outstanding way!! Hope we can flip the big man!!Looks very happy standing next to Braxton.
SCOTTC.
I could see Gresham getting a prefered walk on spot and getting a scholarship when one becomes available. Similiar to Willian Houston from last year
Isn't Gresham currently committed to Texas for a scholarship with a scholarship offer from Bama? I know he and Knox want to play together, but I don't think that is at the expense of paying your own way.
+1 That would be like a slap in the face. Already knowing he has offers from bama and is a Texas commit.
When someone shows you who they are believe them! In other words piss a good friend off and see what they really think about you.
OSU will be in it until the end for Demetrius Knox, no doubt.
But any talk about him possibly committing to OSU soon I believe is very premature.
