Dontre Wilson Out of Desoto Tx who is currently commited to Oregon was visited by Coach Herman this past week. With the unease surrounding Chip Kelly and the Ducks this is one to watch for. He is more of an All-Purpose back and when he committed OSU was number 2 for his services. PER MARC GLIVER

Perhaps this indicates the staff's feelings towards a potential Carlos Hyde departure?
also Hall's redshirt isn't guaranteed
Hall was already granted the red shirt.
Really? I mised that. This is awesome news!
I don't think that is right, he is certainly eligible to apply for one and seems a likely candidate to be granted one, but I have not seen anywhere that the NCAA has granted it. I would love to be corrected though.

hmmm.... I still am not convinced I found some more recent sources that seem to think it is up in the air.

Well, Urban said "He will take a redshirt and be back in 2013". That suggests to me, along with the other news sources that say he was granted a redshirt, that there is no doubt. Which means he was very likely already granted it. I don't think Urban is going around making statements that aren't true. So, I guess, it's up to how much you trust Urban.
I was pulling for this kid when we were still on his radar. Kids got skill, explosive, fast, playmaker.
Yah, the staff at 11w seems pretty convinced we won't take another RB. Unless something has changed (ie. a Hyde departure) I find it unlikely we take another one.
I think they view him more of a slot guy ala Jalin Marshall
Which may indicate feelings toward a James Quick
All of this suspense is killing me!! Is it national signing day yet?
Nope.
Alex's mystery flip?
If you are going to take Premium info from a pay site and post it here within 30 minutes of it going up you could at lesat source the Premium Site you took it from.....
Again, it's okay to post a summary of a pay article, just can't copy and paste the WHOLE article. I wish more people understood the rules!
Rookies
Just thought I'd let you guys know:
In the Boarding House today over at Bucknuts, they are talking about Dontre Wilson. The OSU staff is definitely pursuing them and the source goes as far to say that the Buckeyes may actually lead for Wilson.
Something to watch as we get closer to signing day.
Twitter... Who cares where the info is from I pay on a site why cant I share info with my 11W brethren 10 bucks a month gives me to post whatever I damn well please
No need to get upset. I think he just meant give credit. Like per ______ or according to _______. It's their information, not yours.
Just do what ESPN does. Sources are saying ______________.
He is fine. Let it go.
Is this what Marc Givler posted about a half hour ago? And if it was, I think he's good as long as he didn't copy and paste it word for word
My point is if he is going to take Premium Info he should at least have the decency to cite the source that provided the info. It's pretty low to steal info and circulate it without even bothering to give credit where credit is due.
RIVALS Marc Givler, @Elastik your nit picking on something that I am giving to this site, when people relay from payed sites all the time without saying that. Stay on the rivals site and off here if you are gonna get butthurt about it. Hopefully you sleep better knowing Marc is beloved and adorned again.
Come on man, no need for personal attacks. He has an entirely valid point. Giving credit for premium information is crucial, especially the ones breaking new info.
It's called general decency, these pay guys make a living off of this stuff. Relaying their info as your own and then saying things like "I think the staff is looking at him as a Jalin Marshall type", which came verbatim from Gliver's post you relayed as if it's your own info is very poor form. Share as you want, just at least give these working professionals their due.
I agree totally. Just put in "per tos" or something to that effect. It is just more courteous and professional to do this. With the up,down voting that 11W has now, this has become a more respectable site. 11W is referenced by other sites because of the staff and the well read members.
I understand your point. I said it was Gliver. Now lets move on and talk about the prospect at hand
I know this has been a conversation that has taken place over the last couple months. It is about as tired as the whole Anzalone deal, ect....(insert tired rehash here) This is my first, and hopefully last time, chiming in on the subject. Does paywalled material automatically demand exclusivity to the information therein? I don't see where referencing the material really matters once you pay the premium for it. You are paying for the information, you receive information, nowhere does it say you can't repeat the information (Unless I am wrong). Everyone that comments about this subject demanding homage makes me believe that they belong to one of these "pay for me" info sites. Just my two cents. I'll return to the shed now.
It's fine to spread the info, but it's a generally good/accepted thing to do to give credit to those who broke the news. Otherwise it looks like you're claiming it as your own.
I mean, I don't belong to any of the pay sites because I find information spreads rather quickly via Twitter, but for instance, if Helwagen comes out with commitment news, I'd say "According to Helwagen over at Bucknuts/247Sports, Mike Mitchell has committed to OSU, I'm looking for confirmation from Alex/the other sites".
I think if people attribute stuff then others won't see it as a big deal. Genestar in his early days was posting all of this info as if it was his own. He has gotten much better at attributing pretty much everything and so people realize that he is aggregating a bunch of info and not trying to co-opt it.
My point exactly. Unless it's your own information or you have your own source, you should give credit.
Exactly how long do I have to know something before it becomes my information?
Gene's summaries are a perfect example of proper procedures with this stuff (even if they are directly copied from Buckeye Planet).
Yes you have to cite the source and you cannot provide anymore than a vague description of the article. Also the poster that shares the info will be auto-banned from any of the Premium Sites in question if they are caught (below is the Rivals TOS except, but all sites have the same general language):
Per the Rivals TOS:
"The material on the Premium Ticket Service is for the private, non-commercial enjoyment of Subscribers only. Any other use is strictly prohibited. Rivals and its publishing partners spend a great deal of time and money to obtain the information appearing on its web sites. Subscribers agree that they will not copy, publish, or in any way make available publicly any news, pictures, interviews, features, or any other information from Rivals web sites, without express written permission from Rivals. Subscribers agree that, should they do so, Rivals reserves the right to cancel their subscription immediately without refund. Additionally, reuse of copyrighted information (pictures, interviews, features, videos, audio, etc.) will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
I love how we have the same conversation whenever someone post something from a premium site. The rules state they can post the info, they just can't copy and paste the article or quote it word for word. Again learn the rules before you make assumptions and think you know the rules. However I do agree with those of you who talk about acknowledging where you pulled the info from.
I'm not saying it's the rules, it's just generally the right thing to do.
Edit: This came before your edit where you added the last line; agreed!
Citing the source falls under the same legal framework as citing a Newspaper Article author. Rules or not, it is the law.
Gee, didn't know I could get jail time for saying something like "I read in the newspaper......", without citing the source. It must be in the same category as the old "Under penalty of the law, do not remove this tag". Or, one of my favorite, "It is a federal violation to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling". They may be the law, but I'm sure there aren't too many law enforcement officials running around looking for regular citzens that bend those laws. They mostly apply to the commercial and for-profit use of those items.
Your transgressions are forever documented on the interwebs...
Now I eagerly await my downvoting ban, cheers all.....
I dont have a problem sourcing material what so ever. I didnt realize the MLA/APA citing police were in town this week or I would have given the source. I have access to both Scout and Rivals but prefer 11W over both. I stay on top of my recruiting more than most people on this site. i dont usually post for this very reason. I have been a little more active as of late. I mean i'll keep the info to myself and you can get it when you get it. I just figured i'd bring a little excitement to everyones day.
Thank you NYBuckeye, it's the same conversation whenever anyone posts anything, then the person who accuses you of breaking the rules then back tracks and says "no, all I meant is you should cite". Believe me, it happens EVERY time. Feel free to post whatever info you know about, it brought excitment to my day! HAHA just saw your edit, PER, that's hilirious!
More personal attacks, solid. I don't think anyone accused anyone of rule breaking, just a common courtesy.
I upvoted you, sorry if it came across as a personal attack, definitely was not talking about you. Sorry for that!
This thread went from Dontre Wilson to citing sources... I understand the argument, but can we please get back to the original issue?
This kid is a Buckeye if Chip Kelly leaves and Urban will take his committment?????
I hope you are right, anyone who is a good fit in the Oregon offense as a playmaker would be good for Urban's offense. Imagine Barner or D'Anthony Thomas, hopefully that is some of what Jalin, Taivon, etc. bring to the table.
Why downvote Rodney King??
Does anyone know if this messageboard software allows us to "ignore" a poster like we can on other messageboards so that you don't even see their posts? Appreciation in advance. Thx.
Wanted him when he first comitted flipping some one from the ducks would be great

Does Wilson have an offer?
Um, yes
Does anyone else think that this maybe associated with Hyde and what he may decide to do? Or do you think this has more to do with the fact that we view him more of a "slot" type guy?
I think it has to do with Urban and the staff wanting speed. I also think they might be getting a better understanding of Gibson and Quick. Plus... The speculation surrounding Chip Kelly allows us to jump back in the game.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is up with Chip Kelly? NFL?
His name keeps popping up for NFL jobs, yes. Nothing concrete yet. Seems like a stretch to me, given the style of offense he employs. But, I heard a take on the radio that teams would be looking at his success with what, for the vast majority of his time, have been second level players. Now he obviously gets top notch talent at the skill positions, but he won before that. Anyway, they were saying that an NFL team will low level talent might take a chance on him based on that.
Who knows, I think he'd be a fool to leave. Just my opinion.
When told OSU set school record for 50+ games this year, UFM said "That's good. We're gonna break that next year."
He'll leave faster than Pete Carroll if Oregon is in NCAA trouble, which is entirely possible.
"Sherman ran an option play right through the south" - Greatest.Civil.War.Analogy.Ever
The Oregonian (the major paper in Portland) ran a story about a week and a half ago that essentially said it is not a matter of 'if' Kelly goes to the NFL but 'when.' The article suggested that Kelly is going now, and cited the fact that he's an east coast guy with no connections to Oregon, he has always wanted to be an NFL guy, and pending ncaa investigation as reasons for his possible departure. Additionally, he interviewed for and almost took the TB Bucs job last year, before deciding to use the opportunity to leverage more money out of Nike (he receives an undisclosed amount from them). Long story short (too late, I know) many sources close to the program have assumed he will not be the head coach of Oregon in three years or less.
You also have to think that with sanctions looming there is no better time to get out of Oregon while he can.
Dontre Wilson isn't coming to OSU according to this post below. Heard the possibility and read this board that has some good questions for the Duck faithful from a Buckeye fan. Watching his interviews also makes him seem unwaivering. Don't get your hopes up.
http://oregon.247sports.com/Board/45/Ducks-Question-about-RB-Dontre-Wils...
If Chip Kelly leaves Oregon there's a possibility he could come to OSU.
Nick Saban said he wasn't leaving the Dolphins either.
That's certainly true, but without that taking place he is an Oregon lock. Chip would have to have signed an NFL contract before he would be an actual possibility.
For what it is worth, I heard on ESPN radio this morning that Adam Schefter tweeted he is 100% positive that Chip Kelly will be in the NFL next year
