Recruiting is unpredictable. A couple weeks ago if I would've asked who are the next two in how many people would have said Taivon Jacobs and Timothy Gardner?
If we can finish at 22, I'll coincide with OregonianBuckeye on his prediction. So far, my predictions haven't been the best, never had Jacobs or Gardner on the radar. We'll see.
We'll find out later this weekend, but hopefully Mitchell is the next... with Lewis following shortly (I know he says he wants to wait till September, but the more recruits we get w/ limited numbers, the more pressure to commit). I'm less sure of a 'silent verbal' from Munger after the Gardner commit, so I'm leaning toward Gibson and Bell as the last two. Love to see Munger on the team, but think the class stops at 20.
My guess is that we will have some turnover before signing day. I don't think it will be oversigning, but filling the gap due to transfers. I see some young guys taking time from older players or clearly distinguishing themselves within their position group, leading to some guys looking for playing time elsewhere.
It's going to be a battle for Bell. And let's not forget about Worley who could commit at any time. If he commits I'm not sure how that will affect Bell. I hope Urban continues to go all out to land him
I want Green, Foster and Bell. Seems we stopped recruiting 2 of them for some reason. All 3 are studs, so what if they play the "recruiting game," once they get on campus nobody will remember that crap. My philosophy is u take the best talent available, its the same with the NFL DRAFT, if adrian peterson is available u take him regardless of who u have as a starter. u think all them teams who didnt want aaron rodgers bcuz they already "had their QB" dont regret that now??
After the last two Jacobs and Gardner...I'm not really sure who it will be to be completely honest. I'd like 17. Gibson, Finley and/or 18. Munger,(I'm hearing we may be done with linemen per another site...) 18. Quick or Allen 19. Bell or Worley (or switch this spot out for another Olineman IMO, Probably Munger), and 20. Tyquan Lewis and 21. M.Mitchell. Total of 21...however this seems to be a fluid situation...so who really knows??? Could go down to National Signing day but I doubt Urban will wait for someone again like he did Diggs last year.

I've been in Mexico, so it's good to be back and reading about Buckeye Football. I haven't heard much about Gardner but I'm glad we filled the last OL spot. I see us finishing this class with Gibson, Lewis, Mitchell, and IMO we need another skill guy. Maybe the commits/pressure influence Quick to come on board too. I think if Bell wants to come to OSU we oversign by 1 player. I feel like Meyer and the staff finished out the 2012 class hard on defense and have loaded up the 2013 class on defense. I'd like to see some skill guys come in.
I'm good with Quick coming on board, but nobody really seems to think we will take 2 more WRs. I think the consensus is if Gibson's grades were up he would already be a Buckeye commit. As I stated earlier I'd like to finish the class with Lewis, Gibson, Mitchell, and another skill player (Quick would fit great here). Meyer and the staff are obviously trying to build a defense that can beat SEC calibur teams. I hate the SEC but they're the conference to beat when it comes to national titles. If they can build defenses and teams to not only compete, but beat SEC teams then we should be able to dominate the B1G.

IMO we are in need of skill guys. 2012 and 2013 (this far) have built a solid foundation. 2013 is lacking explosive guys. Jalin Marshall can be a playmaker but we need a goto guy on the perimeter. Maybe Urban is waiting to address that area of the team in the 2014 class. Who knows. As of now it looks like he is targeting some stud skill guys in that class.
Ideally we need to wrap up this current class (IMO) with.....
Gibson 17.
Mitchell 18.
Lewis or Munger 19.
Bell, Quick, or Foster 20. <---- would love to get 2 of these 3 but isn't going to happen.
If somehow we can make this happen we are sitting pretty good.
I'm gonna go with Lewis, Mitchell, Gibson, Allen, and Bell (unless Worley beats him to the punch)
I think the staff could still add another OL if that is Finley or if Johnson decommits from PSU (though I see him going to Pitt if that happens). Seems like they are happy with Price on defense and I actually think MSU leads for Munger.
I have Quick to L'ville unless Strong jumps ship and Foster to Bama. Plus Gibson tour it up at FNL. If Allen doesn't commit in the next week or so (really just starting his recruiting) it my be the last one in.
Still lots of time left here folks. Senior seasons to be played, lots of film to watch. I fully expect a name or two to come out of absolutely nowhere (either on the OL or a wideout as those are the only positions I see the staff really going after at this point)
I think there will be some surprises. The last 4 recruits came out of know where (Gardner, Townsend, Lee, Jacobs), even Elliot and Thompson flew under the radar. Just a couple of weeks ago Mitchell was practically unknown to us, and now he's "expected" to commit. Don't be surprised if we get a couple of the guys we're expecting (Mitchell, Lewis), but I think there will be a couple more surprises ahead.
Good player's make the play's they're suppose to, great player's make the play's they're NOT !!!
@Miles... Is that who you think we will finish with or you want us to finish with? What is the word on Quick? Before I left for vacation he was supposedly having issues with Louisville... I'd love to see Marshall, Jacobs, Quick, and Gibson at the skill positions in this class... That would be a solid foundation to work with Miller and build with Barrett for the future.
No way we take Gibson and Timmons... that gives us essentially 4 slot recievers in this class.... UFM wants AT LEAST one more true split end (Foster/Quick/Allen/North)
I know he CAN, but I don't think he WILL... which is why I think the staff would still take him, but Timmons is a no go at this point with Marshall and Jacobs... I also think the staff wants Quick/Allen (or North)
I'd be very content with signing our highly ranked player ON the radar (Bell). But if I had to guess on the offensive side of the ball, and this is a name that just very recently popped up and could very well amount to nothing, I would say that reciever who is committed to FSU who recently claimed he is interested in OSU (the name escapes me, help?)
@Triv... we only have offers to two current '13 FSU WR commits. Jones and Stevens... and I don't think either of them are gonna flip
@Conroy... don't get your hopes up there. We didn't flip a single player off the radar last year (remember Spence was uncommited) and that was with a brand new coach. Someone could flip, but it'll be someone the staff has been working on for a while and a name we'll know when it happens. I do agree that someone outside our current radar will appear late.
I think BJMOver has the right idea, and there is enough pro-OU smoke w/ Quick that I coud amend my predictions for him over Allen (the staff like Quick better, it just depends on wether he leaves L'ville)
With Gardner in I doubt there's room in this class for Munger now. I think the rest of the spots go to LB's and WR's.
WR's in:
Gibson:After Gibson re-takes the ACT/SAT I would imagine seing him sign.
Quick:Louisville lost a ton of momentum losing Travante Valentine and Jason Hatcher this week. A commintment may come around midseason from James Quick.
Other notables:
Tony Stevens: Rumors mulling around about his decommitment from FSU
Devon Allen: Was impressed by OSU to make his potential top 5, but IDK if that's enough to pull him from the west.
"Kermit" Whitfield: Hasnt fully cut tOSU out of the picture, I wouldnt imagine to see him in S&G but also wouldnt be suprised to see meyer take him.
LB'ers in:
Mike Mitchell: Still no other visits schuedled for the stud linebacker for anywhere other then tOSU is a good sign.
Tyquan Lewis: I still believe this commitment is still a month or two away but nothing but good vibes about tOSU and whats looking like negative publicity for UNC as of late.
@ruralmeyer... Not buying the Stevens smoke as of now... I'll wait til he makes a visit. I think Allen would leave the west for only us. Dad played baseball for us, so we've got that going for us. He's a weird case as he didn't do any sort of recruiting until after his track season so he is kinda far behind everyone else (FNL was one of his first events)
Rampage I see how you could misunderstand my post. I was not saying I think Stevens will flip, just saying if there is a flip as suggested, he is the only name that even comes to mind thats not affiliated with PSU (don't think we get anyone from there either). I too believe this class will be flip-less, not that that is necessarily a bad thing. Still some high-quality guys on our radar (i.e. Quick, Gibson, Bell, Mitchell, Lewis)
@bucknbama. Thx for posting that hudl link for RT. i went to that Anderson County game that is on the video and tried telling people how Timmons broke the ankles of 4 defenders and now I can show them. I am from Ohio and I work in Ky so I have seen a few of these kids play.
Anyone remember when Vonn Bell was talking about being told the Buckeyes would love to play him on both sides or the ball, similar to Chris Gamble? I was just thinking that if this is the case, and we possibly make it to 21 spots, that we may take an additional OL (depending on the target) instead of another WR... I could legitimately see UFM taking a decommited Dorian Johnson over Shelton Gibson if he already has James Quick (or longshot Marquez North) in the bag along with a silent from Bell...
I think as a true safety Bell is superior. What Worley brings is dynamic versatiliy. He can play lots of different positions in the middle of the defense. Bell is a safety only (a damn good one though) while Worley can play safety, LBer, and even a bit of cover corner (prob not start there though) depending on what the staff needs him to do. For a Glenville guy he is sure playing his recruitment close to the vest, so we don't really know where he stands with the staff. All we do know is that the staff wanted him at FNL, take that for what you will.
I'm not sure when Quick said he would announce, though IRRC, he hasn't come out saying he wants to wait til a specific event (could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time).
I think we'll fill out the roster with 2-3 star talent. Then when people question why, we'll tell'em "Trust UFM" or "These guys are under the radar." I don't think Bell's offer is commitable anyway. Unless we get him, then it was very much commitable. Bucktoooooooth, heeyaw.
with Gardner committing, I wonder if that means the staff has cooled on Finley? and what it means in terms of Dorian Johnson, who will eventually de-commit from PSU
Miles is reporting on Twitter that 2 of Quick's teammates at Trinity have chosen to go somewhere else other than L'ville. Hatcher committed to USC and White flipped from L'ville to Vandy recently. Could be looking real good to land Quick now that his HS teammates are choosing to go somewhere else other than L'ville.
I don't subscribe to Rivals, Scout, etc. so I don't get all of the updates, but have any of heard anything else about the Tony Stevens kids that has committed to FSU? It was rumored when he got his official offer from OSU that there was interest and he might visit. I had also read on Twitter that he was thinking of decommitting, so he could be the guy that fills that outside receiver position. Put him and Michael Thomas on the field together with Marshal in the slot... Could get nasty.
I just watched a highlight tape on Devon Allen... He looked good catching the football and making plays, but didn't look too explosive. What's the deal on this kid? Is he a Buckeye lean or will he stay in the southwest?
17- Gibson 18-Quick 19- Mitchell 20- Lewis 21-Munger 22-Bell (signing day suprise) Worley on the outside looking in Dorian Johnson could be a surprise too
That's what I've narrowed down to now^^^^^^ Exactly as a matter of fact. Nice Otrain ;-) I had Allen and/or Quick bc I'm not sure who will be sold on OSU over other schools. And Worley as a backup plan if OSU misses on Bell. Doubt that last part though...still committed to PSU (not visiting tomorrow which is interesting). If Dorian does leave PSU, he'll end up at Pitt.
Just for fun, what if 23 or 24 scholarships...??? Not sure it will happen though bc Roby and Big Hank may want a shot at a title...we'll see: One thing to keep in mind is if some may leave early or transfer. That could make Dec. Jan. and early Feb a bit more interesting for recruiting if that happens. Also, two committed players from FL and FSU are setting up visits to OSU soon . We'll see what happens once OSU starts playing some games and recruits start to see what OSU will have to offer for years to come.

Woody Hayes 1913 - 1987
I saw the tweet and was wondering the same thing... Personally I'd like to see us take 2 more WR's in this class. With the transfer of Hayes I was assuming that gives us an extra scholly, so that would put us at 21 schollies this year. If that is the case, we could add an extra receiver. Meyer has consistantly talked about WR being the worst position on the team, so I'm all for bringing in some studs at the position. I'd like to see a big receiver like Stevens or North, but I'd also be ok with a bunch of 6 foot tall receivers who can fly. Size isn't everything, but as Mark Pantoni always tweets... SPEED KILLS!
I don't see Timmons getting an offer...that's just my opinion...we will see....I think this class will be at 21-22....Tyquan Lewis, Mike Mitchell would be 18....Gibson is 19.....Munger is 20...Worley 21...Vonn Bell 22.....those are my guesses as of TODAY....Corn Elder, Daniel McMillan, Devon Allen, Dennis Finley, Tony Stevens, James Quick, Robert Foster (less likely these days), and someone we're not even thinking about right now are all options and things are fluid so can change
Alex, do you really think we take BOTH Worley and Bell as safeties. We already have Thompson and Burrows could move there as well. Just seems like a lot of safeties.
Lewis, Mitchell, Gibson and Bell
Recruiting is unpredictable. A couple weeks ago if I would've asked who are the next two in how many people would have said Taivon Jacobs and Timothy Gardner?
Lewis, Mitchell, Gibson, Allen, Bell and Munger. I think this class ends around 22.
22? Wouldnt we be oversigning at that point?
I think it would be oversigning as of now but with transfers and medical hardships I think its possible it could end up that way.
If we can finish at 22, I'll coincide with OregonianBuckeye on his prediction. So far, my predictions haven't been the best, never had Jacobs or Gardner on the radar. We'll see.

I really do think its between us and Tenn for bell. I think he will be our last commit for the 2013 class.
I think if there was a silent commit it was Gardner.
This rest will be
Mitchell
Lewis
Gibson
Foster (if he's still being recruited)
Bell stays closer to home.
Good player's make the play's they're suppose to, great player's make the play's they're NOT !!!

Ohio State doesn't have interest in Foster from what I've recently been told. So don't count on him being in the class.
I'd go with Lewis, Mitchell, Quick, Gibson, and Worley to close out the class.

Who won the 40 at FNL? What was the time
That's what I think.... Been hearing some good stuff regarding Quick-OSU recently.
@ Miles, does Quick and OSU have anything to do with his HS teammate chosing USC over UoL?
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
Nope
My best guess-
17) Mike Mitchell
18) Shelton Gibson
19) Ryan Timmons
20) Vonn Bell
21) Dennis Finley

Think Munger is outside looking in...
My guess:
17) Mitchell
18) Gibson
19) Finley
20) Bell
Champions Bleed Scarlet & Gray
Rampage: Gibson isn't necessarily a slot guy. He can fufill more of a traditional receiver role as well.

19. James Quick
20. Shelton Gibson
21. Von Bell
22. Donovan Munger (if room)
with Gardner committing, I wonder if that means the staff has cooled on Finley? and what it means in terms of Dorian Johnson, who will eventually de-commit from PSU

bucktooth... o.O
Cause I couldn't go for three
Miles is reporting on Twitter that 2 of Quick's teammates at Trinity have chosen to go somewhere else other than L'ville. Hatcher committed to USC and White flipped from L'ville to Vandy recently. Could be looking real good to land Quick now that his HS teammates are choosing to go somewhere else other than L'ville.
What's the deal with Louisville's recruiting woes recently?

they supposedly were selling kids on going to the Big 12 now that's fell through plus Strong rumors kids are jumping ship.
@703 its not a very good team,it doesnt have very good facilities, its in a rough part of town, and plays in an awful confrence.
Rural: I know all that, it's been that way for a long time.
GinnTroy: That's more what I was looking for.

Could get nasty.
quick, lewis, mitchell, bell, gibson would be my dream class

stark county football
I think we take Bell, Mitchell, Quick, Gibson, Finley, and Lewis
17. Gibson
18. Lewis
19. Mitchell
20. Bell
I'm not sure we're going to get James Quick and things seem to have died with Robert Foster so I think Gibson is the last WR we take in this class.

21) Tony Stephens/Shelton Gibson
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
the tweet by josh a bit ago, about timmons, is that likely, that he wil be offered?
If he drags the process out, and we miss on Quick, there's chance. I think Gibson and Timmons would be fighting for the same spot though
Hayze- I think Worley as a linebacker :)
