Arvell Reese was already the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week. Now, he’s the Chuck Bednarik National Defensive Player of the Week.

Reese led the Buckeyes with 12 tackles in Ohio State’s 38-14 win over Penn State. He also lived in the Nittany Lions’ backfield, recording 2.5 tackles for loss and one sack.

Reese becomes the third Buckeye to earn a national player of the week award this season, joining defensive end Caden Curry and quarterback Julian Sayin. Curry received the Chuck Bednarik National Defensive Player of the Week, Walter Camp Defensive Player of the Week and Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week awards for his performance against Washington, in which he recorded 11 tackles, five tackles for loss and three sacks. Sayin received the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Week award in recognition of his 393-yard, four-touchdown effort against Wisconsin.

This season, Reese leads Ohio State with 54 tackles, nine more than the team's second-leading tackler, Sonny Styles (45), and 15 more than the third-leading tackler, Caleb Downs (39). His nine tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks rank second on the team behind Curry’s 10.5 and seven.
