What's better than one Script Ohio?
A quadruple Script Ohio.
The Ohio State marching band paid tribute to the 2024 College Football Playoff national championship and then did a quadruple Script Ohio with the alumni band at halftime of the Buckeyes' shutout win over Grambling State Saturday afternoon.
Leading up to the game, the battle of the bands – The Best Damn Band in the Land vs. the Tigers' “World Famed” Marching Band – was more hyped up and talked about than what would actually take place during the 60 minutes of game action.
Grambling State coach Mickey Joseph led off his weekly press conference with just that.
“Well, first of all, they got a great band. We have a great band. And we’re gonna compete as a band,” Joseph said. “I’m joking right now.”
During Saturday morning's Skull Session, a time Ohio State coaches use to hype up Buckeye Nation and the team, Ryan Day and Keenan Bailey instead focused much of their speeches on the Best Damn Band in the Land.
“Let’s make sure everyone understands one thing: The Best Damn Band in the Land resides here in Columbus, Ohio," Day said.
“All week, when I hear about our opponent, I keep hearing about one thing, and that’s their band, and everybody says they have a great band. So I did my research, and they do have a great band," Bailey said. "I’ve got a whole lot of respect for Grambling’s band. However, there’s a difference between having a great band and having The Best Damn Band in the Land. So my challenge to you guys, the alumni here today and the current band members, for four quarters, let’s make this shit a battle of the bands.”
The Best Damn Band in the Land proved to be just that – again – during halftime and throughout Ohio State's dominant 70-0 win over Grambling State.
Grambling State’s band also performed at halftime and drew plenty of cheers of their own from the Ohio State crowd for their performance, which you can watch in the video below.
