Eighteen of the players who helped Ohio State grind out a victory in its closest game of the season to date were not champions for their efforts this week.

Ohio State's champions for its 28-17 win over Penn State include 11 defensive players. Defensive end Chase Young and linebacker Pete Werner, who shared defensive player of the game honors, are joined as champions on that side of the ball by defensive end Zach Harrison, defensive tackle Jashon Cornell, linebackers Baron Browning, Malik Harrison and Justin Hilliard, cornerbacks Damon Arnette, Jeff Okudah and Shaun Wade and safety Jordan Fuller.

Hilliard, who recorded the first interception of his Ohio State career on Saturday, earns champion honors for the first time this season.

Six offensive players graded out as champions. Right guard Wyatt Davis, the offensive player of the game, is joined on the champion board this week by fellow interior offensive linemen Jonah Jackson and Josh Myers and wide receivers K.J. Hill, Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson.

Sevyn Banks also earned champion recognition as the special teams player of the week.

The Buckeyes awarded scout team player of the week honors to a pair of walk-ons, offensive lineman Chris Kuhn and wide receiver Sam Wiglusz, and a pair of true freshmen, linebacker/defensive end Cade Stover and safety Bryson Shaw.
