In the age of portal mayhem, where many prospects are dipping if they don't have a clear path to the field after one or two years, a homegrown developmental prospect at one of football's most developmental positions seems sage.

That's exactly the type of player Ohio State landed on Monday when four-star offensive lineman Davis Seaman, a Columbus native, committed to his hometown team.

Seaman is the No. 400 overall prospect in the recruiting class of 2027, per 247Sports’ composite rankings. He possesses a solid offer sheet, committing to the Buckeyes over scholarship opportunities from Auburn, Cincinnati, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, NC State, Nebraska and Penn State, among others.

The Seaman File

  • Class: 2027
  • Size: 6-4/290
  • Pos: OT
  • School: Bishop Watterson (Columbus, Ohio)
  • Composite Rating: ★★★★
  • Composite Rank: #400 (#21 IOL)

Standing 6-foot-4 and 290 pounds, Seaman will need to continue to develop physically upon his arrival at the collegiate level. Pad level and a few other technical elements of his game will also need to be ironed out, flaws not often exposed by the competition he faces at the D-III level of Ohio high school football. But there are definite traits that Ohio State offensive line coach Tyler Bowen can build on.

First, Seaman comes from a winning culture at Bishop Watterson High School. He started for two OHSAA State Championship teams in 2024 and 2025, with the Eagles going a perfect 30-0 across those two years. Second is his mentality. Seaman plays with violence and finishes blocks with authority, even if that aggression can sometimes lead him to get too far out over his feet.

But speaking of feet, Seaman has a quick pair. Lateral movement and foot speed are important traits for pass blocking, blocking in space, second-level blocking and pulling as a lineman, and Seaman's feet are not just swift but keep a wide base to aid his power and balance.

Seaman is the 11th commit to join Ohio State's recruiting class of 2027 and its fifth offensive line commit, joining three fellow offensive tackles: Four-stars Jimmy KalisKellen Wymer and Brody McNeel. Three-star interior offensive line commit Mason Wilt rounds out the Buckeyes’ quintet of pledges up front.
