Ever since the rule change, it’s seemed as if Day has leaned into shortening the game rather than not, which I just don’t understand. We had SIX attempts to score the ball vs. Washington today, granted we did fumble a punt, but still. Last night UVA had 7 possessions in the first HALF. Laws of averages would agree that we want as many possessions as possible, considering we are better than every other team in the sport. Shortening the games allow for a single play (pick 6, etc) to result in a loss, as we saw last year vs. Michigan. It’s hard to criticize the defense, but it seems like we just play contain until the redzone and allow long (timewise) drives. Offensively, we simply need to snap the ball faster. Right now this offense lacks serious identity, and tempo would be lethal with the downfield attack. Get Mylan and Bryson to go run deep and gas out their corners, and hit them quick with run plays like Day used to do 2018-2021. What happened to the days of scoring 50-60 points on Michigan? It doesn’t even seem like there is an enough time in games for that to be possible. By the way, LSU Ole Miss kicked off at 3:30 too and was at halftime when we were starting the 4th quarter. Sorry for the rant but this getting this fixed could seriously unlock this team.
