In a game in which the Ohio State defense held Washington out of the end zone to propel itself to a 24-6 victory in Seattle, no single player made quite the impact that defensive end Caden Curry did.
Curry was all over the field during the Buckeyes’ triumph over the Huskies. The Greenwood, Indiana, native was a consistent presence in the backfield, hounding Washington quarterback Demond Williams Jr., en route to 11 tackles, a trio of sacks and five tackles for loss — tying several Buckeyes for the school record.

Caden Curry has 11 tackles! and five tackles for loss! and three sacks! https://t.co/vo89Pl6DYH
Curry’s five tackles for loss tie him with Chase Young (2019), Ryan Shazier (2013), John Simon (2012), Antonio Smith (2006), Andy Katzenmoyer (1996), Jayson Gwinn (1993) and Judah Herman (1991) for the Ohio State record. His 11 tackles have him tied for the second-highest among those performances on that list, trailing Shazier’s 16 tackles while tied with Smith.
Curry’s presence was felt from the jump, as the defensive end tallied a pair of tackles for loss inside the Buckeyes’ own 10-yard line on Washington’s first scoring drive — forcing the Huskies into a field goal attempt. Later in the second quarter, Curry sacked Williams on a key second-and-5 during a two-minute drill for the Huskies, ultimately forcing Washington to run out the clock.

With the Buckeyes clinging to a 17-6 lead, he added his second sack on a massive third-and-3 early in the final frame; however, his efforts were negated by an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, which ultimately provided Washington with a fresh set of downs. Curry struck again just a few minutes later, taking down Williams for a loss of seven with 4:04 to play, stifling any chance of a comeback for the Huskies.
Curry’s efforts played a key role in Ohio State stifling the nation’s top scoring defense, as the Buckeyes held the Huskies to 234 yards of total offense and only six points.
