From cleveland.com, a ranking of Ohio's biggest college sports programs by dollars spent on Athletics (2014-2015 fiscal year).
More than a third of that money was spent by Ohio State University, the only program in Ohio that functions without cash from student fees or other University non-athletic sources. OSU's athletic program is entirely self funded.
Unsurprisingly, The Ohio State University was #1 with $154 million in expenditures, fielding 1,036 athletes on 35 teams. UC was second (they lose again!) with $51.7 million spent, with a mere 329 athletes on 19 teams.
