Ohio State will have a new strength and conditioning coach for the 2026-27 season.
Ohio State is parting ways with Quadrian Banks, who had led the strength and conditioning program for Ohio State men’s basketball since 2017, after nine seasons, Eleven Warriors confirmed on Wednesday.
Banks was initially hired by Chris Holtmann when Holtmann became Ohio State’s head coach in July 2017. While Jake Diebler brought in a new staff of on-court assistant coaches when he became the Buckeyes’ head coach in 2024, he retained Banks for his first two years as head coach.
Now, however, the Buckeyes are moving in a new direction as they look to enhance their player development ahead of the 2026-27 season.
"My family and I just have an overwhelming appreciation for every student-athlete that has come through the doors over these past eight-plus years," Banks told The Columbus Dispatch, which first reported Banks’ departure. "Extremely grateful for both the men's basketball and spirit staff members supporting me over the years. Brutus, Men's Hoops, and THE women of Ohio State Cheer will forever hold a place in my heart."
In addition to replacing Banks, Ohio State is also searching for a new on-court assistant to replace former associate head coach Joel Justus, who left the Buckeyes for Vanderbilt. That search is ongoing, and a hire is expected to be made in the near future.
Diebler’s other four assistants from last season – Dave Dickerson, Luke Simons, Jamall Walker and Brian Walsh – are expected to return for the 2026-27 season.
