2013 Ridgeland (GA) S Vonn Bell will officially visit three schools in January, Ridgeland head coach Mark Mariakis tells me. The three schools are Ohio State, Alabama, and Tennessee.
I'm still trying to find out the exact date of Bell's visit to Columbus, but I would guess it would be for the weekend of January 11th.
Before we got news of him taking his officials, I thought Bell was a Bama lean, but things could change after he takes his officials. It's looking like Bell's recruitment will go all the way to National Signing Day.
Update: Ohio State: January 11-13, Alabama: January 18-20, and Tennessee January 25-27.

Visit Ohio State first, then cancels all the other visits. That would be nice.

Exactly.
The 2012 National Champions.

No one. That's just dumbers trying to upvote.
where will his last visit be?
Miles updated the post :) but Tennessee to answer the question
So much for the only an ov to the school I commit too lol unless he cancels after his o st visit. I'll take out chances with urb. Go bucks

Yeah, let's hope this is a Dawson situation (minus the original commitment/decommitment), and Bell commits on his first OV, subsequently cancelling the following two.
EDIT: Whoops, BVTW beat me to it! My thoughts exactly!
OSU fans didn't want him to only take an OV to the school he commits to....not so sure that would have been OSU...Urban has put the Bucks back in the game
Better to get the first visit in this case.
If you don't get the first, its not guaranteed you get one.
On the Jan 11 Official visit with him will be Jalin Marshall, Marcus Baugh, Shelton Gibson, and I'm sure some others.
Don't think Worley has taken an official visit, so it wouldn't surprise me to see him take one then.
Maybe we can get Darron Lee to unofficially visit that weekend because it sounded like they bonded a bit at FNL.
Seems to me like Tennessee has to be the odd man out. Yeah he grew up a fan and they're his homestate school and all, but with the new coaching staff there and not having an existing relationship with them. Bell has stated that his relationship with coaches is important to him, and unless Butch Jones and Co. can make up some serious ground in the realtionship department, I don't see him going there.
If he ends up waiting it out and taking that official to Tennessee, I wouldn't rule them out.
Tennessee is to Bell what Ohio State is to most Ohio kids, if that makes sense.
Derek (or Miles, Alex if they see this) -- do you feel the same way Miles (and a lot of us felt, frankly) that prior to scheduling these visits, and maybe even still, that Bama had the edge?
To me I almost get the sense that it was going to be Bama had he just decided on a school after the game, but by scheduling these visits it at least puts OSU firmly in the conversation, and from here it could be a toss up.
I think Bama had an edge and I think Urban worked to make these visits happen...just my opinion, so agree with your thoughts
Unlike Tennessee, Ohio State has maintained their status as a national power in the last decade.
But after Diggs chose Maryland over Ohio State, and Florida, nothing shocks me anymore.

Agree with you. I'm going to go ahead and say I was wrong.
From what I can tell, it would have been Alabama.
Urban and company will do their best to wrap it up before he leaves campus.
hopefully he stays all of sunday we host that state up north that day in basketball
Urban going against doucebag Saban. You know Urban doesn't want that goon to beat him out for Bell.

It would be nice to see Alabama "roll" Notre Dame. Then have the "Saban to the NFL" rumors start to swirl just before Bell's visit to Bama.
Saban to the Browns is the real issue here bc if Lombardi gets the GM job then Sabans gone IMO. Not sure how I feel about Saban coaching my Browns but I think him and Meyer coaching the 2 highest profile teams in Ohio would be weird and surreal enough for me.
You know I agree don't know if I want him with the Browns but I love the Buckeyes a lot more. If Saban leaves that declares Urban the highest profile coach in college football. The recruiting edge would be amazing
Wherever you are, there you be!
What about Lane Kiff.....AHAHAHAHAHHAHA
(almost got that out with a straight face)
An official visit is 48 hours, under NCAA rules. No need to hope he sticks around for Sunday.
He'll get there Friday Night, and leave Sunday Night.
Alluding to Alex's comment from a blog post on Vonn Bell he said the one reason he thought we were in this recruiting battle still was Urban Meyer, which is awesome to know that Urban is a hell of a recruiter! I can't believe he convinced Bell to make an OV; he is a champ on the recruting trail for sure.
But to play devil's advocate a little bit, I think the only thing about OSU that is attractive for Bell right now is the chance to play for Meyer. As far as the actual school he prefers, I think that's Bama unfortunately. I guess my point is I'd be hard pressed to believe that Bell's like for Meyer will outweigh his desire to go to school at Bama, play for Saban, play in the SEC, etc. etc.
There's still a chance he could end up loving OSU once he gets to campus but I'll guess that if we do not get his verbal on the visit, then he won't be in our class on NSD. I hope Urban seals the deal but I won't be bitter if he doesn't because I think he is fighting an uphill battle.
Champions Bleed Scarlet & Gray
I think the school that he wants to play for is Tennessee, but he doesn't have the relationship with people there that he does at OSU and they haven't won National Championships like Alabama. So now he has to decide which of those three things he likes most (with a decent shot at winning a NC at OSU, hopefully that puts two votes in our favor).
Not too many times a high priority visits Meyer's campus three times, and he doesn't get him.
This will be Bell's 3rd visit to OSU.
What happened to the thread I read that said he was only taking one OV to OSU? Was that just rumor?

I hope that there is some seriously mild weather for him that weekend. It's not so cold up here Vonn!
I surely hope your right Derrick, I think we really need V.Bell in this class.
I get the feeling we will know whether Bell will be a Buckeye on Jan. 13..if he commits and cancels his visits then we are obviously set. If not, I don't think he will pick the good guys
The same thing can be said for Saban. Epic battle here. And even Tennessee can get involved if they actually get the official visit.
Two best coaches in college football, that can recruit their tails off. And the childhood favorite and in-state team. Should be interesting.
Didn't Vonn's coach once say that Vonn knew everything he needed to know to make his decision, and that he was just waiting for his season to end?
Based on the info and comments here, I interpret that to mean he had more or less decided on Bama. And like it's been said, Urban convinced him to take those OV's instead. I'd prorbably be able to be convinced to move to China if Urban talked one on one with me and said I should. Love this coach of ours.
Urban and Nick should get in a ring and duke it out for this recruit. The only caveat is it could be tag-team and Urban gets the option of Vrabel, Fickell, and Coombs. OSU's coaching staff would beat any other coaching staff's collective asses.
I could see coombs running around in a luchador mask.
I knew you'd come up with someting good, Highwire, you beautiful bastard
hahah Coombs would look great in that mask
He talks about grabbing someones throat to win at checkers. It could get interesting going after a prize recruit. I'll take Urban. Now that's thinking outside the box.
