I believe, but I may be wrong, that I read somewhere that they reworked his contract to allow him to receive some kind of bonus this year since the bowl ban is in no way his fault.
From what I was told, the contract wording was re-worked changing BCS Championship to AP #1 for this year. So, without doing research and based off of ND winning last night, he would not receive the bonus (which is a travesty in my opinion).

He also got a bonus for winning the leaders division title
