I remember watching Scarlett on ESPiN a few weeks ago against Trotwood-Madison. He's a special player.
"Attack the Strong, Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead!"
-Former OSU S&C Coach Lichter
Yeah Scarlett was a beast. Didn't he have like 100 yards at half?
Didn't nick Dillion get an offer?
No offer for Dillon, he camped and OSU expressed some interest, but that was all.
The staff needs to go after 2015 DB Shaun Crawford of Lakewood St. Ed's. He played last year a little towards the end of the year. His first snap on the varsity was the playoff game against St. Ignatius. He had a huge INT at a crucial point in the game. Big time ball skills, as well as legit speed. He made the 100 and 200 state finals as a frosh.
What number is Shaun Crawford?
I believe Crawford wears #17. He's a Michigan fan too. He likes USC as well and said he would camp there next year. That's all I really know on Crawford.

Gene: Are you going to stick this thread to the top of the football section like the 2013/14 classes?

Yes you was, good call, Nebraska offered him first today. Ohio State offered him on his visit.
Me thinks Nebraska offered today because they figured he was going to be offered on his visit and they wanted to be the 'first offer'.
You never know haha

When Urban was talking about having resources at OSU that he never had at Florida for recruiting underclassmen, I really had no idea what he was talking about.
I think this is the end result though and we'll end up getting a huge headstart on building relationships with a lot of these players.
Maybe the strong relationship OSU has with basically every big program in Ohio? In Florida I imagine the ties are a little fractured with certain high schools only pipelining to FSU, the U, or Florida and not being as friendly to a rival?
This is the first time I've peered at the 2015 list, but given our current stable of backs and looking at the next two or three classes, I can't help but ponder: Is it time to start calling Ohio State "Running Back U?"
Love the evolution of our running game under Coach Meyer. Three yards and a cloud of dust... and then some.

Isn't there a stud 2015 RB from Ohio that OSU has on its radar. LJ something?
LJ Scott is 2014, doesn't look like he'll get an offer unless we miss out on a bunch of guys. Shame because I really liked his film.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
There is another LJ Scott in the 2015 class, here is his tape. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2E9c1G70cTc
Nice film.... straight line guy not a lot of wiggle, but he is young and still has a lot of filling out to do. Could be a real good prospect by his senior year especially once he fills out more.

Only 1 out of 20 offers so far is to an Ohio kid? Any reasons why that might be?
Typically the offers that go out this early are going to go to the big name out of staters, as it doesn't take an offer to get the attention of the Ohio kids, a simple phone call from Urb will keep them interested this early on
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
That makes sense, but I still have to believe that if they can find 9 florida kids that are good enough to get an offer right now, they can probably find more than 1 Ohio kid.
Yeah, but as was posted somewhere else, it's a lot easier to give out a noncommittable offer to an out of state kid; if you do it to an Ohio kid, their coach might throw a fit. Odds are most of these are that way.
That makes sense. I only really started following recruiting very closely last year and forgot that many of these could be noncommittable offers. Still a little unclear on this subject though. What exactly is the difference for a recruit to receive this type of offer as opposed to being told by the staff of a school that they are interested?
EDIT: Did a quick google search and I guess a better way to explain it is that these are conditional offers. Would it be possible to distinguish which are legit offers (the kid could sign for tOSU right now if they wanted) and which are noncommittable/conditional? Is that what Verbal next to their name means? I'm so confused. hah
It's a verbal offer, meaning basically for example "I would like to offer you a spot on our football team" or "I would like to offer you a scholarship" Mass majority are empty promises, and IMO should be altered by the NCAA, maybe eliminating these verbal offers. It's made verbally as official offers don't get sent out until a certain time, which I believe is usually August 1st. In this class, official offers won't be mailed out or extended to athletes until Aug 1st 2014. Most of these names will be removed after the official ones go out, but may resurface over time on the thread. It's too early in the recruiting game to decipher between what offers are committable and noncommittable, but usually the high ranking prospects offers are always committable.
Thanks, that clears up a lot. Ever thought about making a recruiting FAQ thread with helpful info like this or is there already something similar on the site that I'm missing? I guess I should have realized that schools couldn't give out scholarships to kids in this class this early, but it didn't cross my mind.
