the question has been raised a few times on different forums. to me they have completely different games. the other part of it is that i believe aaron craft is the better college player no doubt. the whole "trey burke has a higher ceiling" crap bothers me because he hasn't done anything compared to aaron, who has a trip to the final 4 under his belt. he's a tenacious defender and great leader. not sure trey burke has exemplified that yet.

Burke is good, but I wouldn't trade Craft for any other PG in the country.
It alway seems that Burke gets away with pushing off, too.
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
Craft is a Buckeye, in 2 season, he's 2 time Big ten champ and 2 Sweet 16's.
Burke is an Endeangered Weasel bounced in 1rst round by Bobcats.
I'm happy with who we have in Columbus.
There's not a PG in the country I would trade for craft. Nobody works harder or plays better defense than he does. He's the kind of guy you want leading your team
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
craft>burke unless ur a scum fan

Craft was all over Burke in the last match up...I would not trade The Master of the Rubiks Cube for any other college player.
craft is everything a coach could want in a point guard (well i guess he could shoot) but hes awesome my fav player ever! heart and desire
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
aaron craft by far, wouldnt trade him for any one else. burke is pretty good, but total all round game and intelligence belongs to craft. and i am not so sure i would trade shannon scott for burke.
Craft. landslide.
I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.
"Winter is coming" - Urban Meyer
Agree that I wouldn't trade Craft for any other PG, and he has Burke beat in at this point in all around game, but at the risk of inserting a little rationality here, also remember that you're comparing sophomore Craft to freshman Burke. Don't get me wrong... I'm still not suggesting that Burke is better, but using words like "landslide" or phrases like "he hasn't done anything compared to Craft" may not be fair considering he's only played one year.
Different situations, too. Burke is basically expected to be "the guy" on that team. Craft is a supporting player who plays lock down defense and just has a crazy game IQ. But I think if Craft had to headline a team, people would be more critical, and if Burke didn't, he'd be fulfilling expectations well. That being said, I think they're both the best at what they individually do. Burke can outscore Craft. Craft can outhustle, overpower, and out-think Burke.
If i'm building a team I take craft. Burke is a good player I'm not saying he isnt. Craft however in my view is on another level. His defense is superior, coupled with a top tier basketball mind, unrelenting effort and pure determination night in and night out. Not to mention he can finnish at the basket and drop a three when required.
I know burke is a freshman, (or was last year) and has room to grow and improve and certainly will do both but i just can't pass on a guy like craft. again just my opinion.
I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.
umm just to clarify i love aaron craft but for being a guard the guy can not shoot. ive heard hes lights out in practice but never have i seen that in a game
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
Burke is a really good player. Craft is one of those guys though that I would never trade. He sets the tone for the team. Burke may be more polished offensively but Craft is the most dominant perimeter defender I've ever seen. How often do you ever refer to a point guard as a dominant defender? That's a title usually reserved for a 7'0" shot blocking center. Anyway, what I think we'll see more of is a much more offensively aggressive Craft...which we've seen how good he can be offensively when he attacks (see: most games from the first 1/3 of last season and Gonzaga NCAA tourney game - 17 points, 10 assists I believe) and hopefully he spent the summer working on that jumper. He has all the intangibles on top of it, the smarts, the work ethic, the leadership that any coach would drool over. If we see AC take that next step next season offensively he'll probably go down as my favorite Buckeye PG (or overall favorite) of all time.
Edit: I realize it would be stupid to hope he's been working on his jumper all summer considering he's been sidelined from surgery. Think about how he can hopefully be even more effective without the bum ankle now, though!
@ Sir Rickith: I feel like part of that is that he was never really required to shoot lights out. Sure, it would've been nice to have at times last year, but we still made it to the final four without him shooting lights out. In fact, when the team needed someone to get going, it was usually Craft who would at least try, if not succeed in carrying the team (see: Gonzaga, UC).
It's hard to compare the two, but I would take Craft over Burke. Burke had a tremendous break-out season last year, but is too much of a ballhog for my liking. He is a superior in-game shooter than Craft, and has a very quick first step. I think he fits perfectly into scUM's schemes. However, I wouldn't want him on our team, especially not last year. Craft, while not the scorer that Burke is, does so much more. Like many people have said, he's a lock down defender that you can count on shutting down his guy. On top of that, he's great with off ball defense, poking the ball away from people he's not even guarding. He has excellent basketball IQ and can see the court very, very well. For our situation and team, I would take Craft.
burke is a better fundamental basketball player (shooting, dribbling, passing, etc) and a better candidate for the one on one NBA.
however, the PG position (although not in the joke that is the NBA) requires more than that, and in the area of intangibles, heart, passion, teamwork, leadership, and making other players on the floor better, craft is the best by far, and one of the best ever. burke doesn't really possess any of those qualities at a high level truthfully. craft has good enough fundamental skills that he can score and get assists and doesnt turn it over. i think we will see his shooting improve a lot each season too.
honestly i dont know if i have seen a PG that makes his teammates better and ruins the other team's offense every game like craft. he is everything you want in a PG, on and off the floor.
outside of tsun, no one would want burke over craft.
Craft knows now how to defend Burke. He proved it in the B1G Tournament blowout over them.
To be fair...Craft has/had so much more around him...Burke had Zach Novak and Stu Douglass starting alongside him last year. Let that marinate.
AC is absolutely better for our situation. He's not asked to go score 16-18 a night, which is fine. He's a natural leader, really shuts down the opposing offenses where they start - at PG, and runs the offense efficiently. He also seems to hit timely shots. I expect him to increase his ppg this season with Buford and Sully gone. Probably a 11/6/x number of steals kind of line. His value to the team goes beyond the stat sheet.
Last year Craft clearly outplayed Burke 2out of 3 games .
