Spring has sprung, and for the 8th time in as many tournaments, Ohio State's men's basketball team has failed to advance to the Sweet 16. Meanwhile, a certain team from west of Detroit has done so for the fifth year in a row.

Sigh.

Chris Holtmann's record in March isn't stellar, to put it mildly. After his Buckeyes turned in a stellar defensive performance against Loyola, they couldn't stop sending Villanova to the charity stripe and a second-half run wasn't enough to dig out of the hole.

Note that Ohio State's women's basketball team did advance to the Sweet 16 Monday night, an hour or so after this weeks Dubcast was "in the can," as the saying goes. The resurgence of Kevin McGuff's program has been fun to watch, as has the incredible success of Nadine Muzerall's women's hockey team, which won the school's first ever national championship in the sport last weekend.

Ohio State, you see, can win at anything it tries. The resources, the talent, the culture, the facilities... they're all there. Which is why it's little wonder fans of the men's roundball program are a bit miffed at the lack of a second March Madness weekend rooting interest time after time.

We'll not just dwell on the loss in this episode, no no, we will absolutely celebrate the huge hockey win, as well as the pistol team's latest national championship. We'll also talk about the latest post-mortem on Urban Meyer's disastrous flirtation with the NFL, and Harry Miller's incredible bravery.

Plus, Ask Us Anything (which, as always, you can do by emailing us at dubcast@elevenwarriors.com) talks about what language we wish we had learned in addition to English.

RUN OF THE SHOW

0:00 Ohio State's dance is over. The Buckeyes just can't seem to make it past the first weekend of the Tournament, grumble grumble grumble.

05:15 It's time to have some frank conversations about roster construction and management.

11:42 While the program currently looks at making the tournament as an accomplishment, That Team Up North has made the Sweet 16 its baseline expectation.

18:06 Ohio State is going to lose some key pieces; what does the roster look like next season, and where does Holtmann need to go in the transfer portal to get to the top of the mountain?

26:03 The women's hockey team won their first national championship in program history, and the pistol team added another natty to its trophy case. What Nadine Muzerall has done in rebuilding the hockey program is truly incredible.

31:30 Ask Us Anything: What language do we wish we had learned in addition to English?

45:30 Quick Cals: Urban Meyer's tenure at Jacksonville was perhaps the biggest disaster since the Hindenburg. The latest reporting is mind-blowing. We'll also discuss Harry Miller's appearance on the Today show.

In the spirit of Miller's shining light on the importance of mental health and breaking the stigma, the Dubcast reminds you that you matter. If you or someone you know are in distress, reach out to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 800-273-8255.

That's all for this week's episode. Thanks as always to Travis for the cool, cool logo, thanks to you for listening and checking out the Dry Goods store, and we'll see you next week!
