Ohio State women’s basketball earned its 20th win of the season on Sunday.

The No. 11 Buckeyes faced a fight from Nebraska, who cut a 20-point Ohio State lead in the third quarter to a four-point difference in the fourth quarter, but Ohio State ultimately pulled away in the end to earn a 90-71 victory.

Ohio State improved to 20-3 on the season with Sunday’s win at the Schottenstein Center, securing its fifth straight 20-win season.

Jaloni Cambridge led the Buckeyes with 30 points despite playing only 11 minutes in the first half due to foul trouble. Chance Gray added 21 points for the Buckeyes, surpassing the 1,500-point mark for her collegiate career in the process. Kennedy Cambridge (12), Elsa Lemmilä (10) and Ava Watson (10) also scored in double figures.

Even though Jaloni Cambridge spent most of the first quarter on the bench after picking up two early fouls – the second of which came on a controversial charge call – Ohio State pulled out to an early 19-10 lead as Gray scored eight first-quarter points.

Nebraska went on a 10-0 run between the end of the first quarter and the start of the second quarter to pull ahead, 20-19, but the Buckeyes responded with a 10-2 run that included five points, a steal and a spectacular rebound and assist from Kennedy Cambridge.

Ohio State held the lead for the rest of the first half, taking a 39-31 lead into the intermission. The Buckeyes looked like they were going to cruise to victory from there, extending their lead to 20 points in the third quarter. But Nebraska went on a 20-4 run between the end of the third quarter and the start of the fourth quarter to cut the Buckeyes’ lead to four.

The Buckeyes regained control of the game with an 18-6 run, with Jaloni Cambridge either scoring or assisting all 18 points, and cruised to a 19-point victory from there.

Ohio State has now reached the 20-win threshold in five straight seasons. (By contrast, Ohio State men’s basketball has gone three seasons without reaching 20 wins.)

The Buckeyes will look to earn their 21st win of the season on Thursday when they kick off a two-game trip to the Pacific Northwest with a road game at Washington. Thursday’s game tips off at 9 p.m. and will be broadcast by Peacock.
