Looks like the Ohio State women's basketball team will be starting its season off with a bang.

The Buckeyes will be facing perennial powerhouse Connecticut for the third-straight season, this time as part of the early-season Countdown to Columbus tournament which will be held in Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio — the same site as the the 2018 Women's Final Four.

In addition to the Ohio State vs. Connecticut matchup, Countdown to Columbus will feature a game between national powerhouses Louisville and Stanford. Prior to the tournament, Ohio State will host 2017 Final Four participate Stanford in historic St. John Arena on to open its regular season.

The Buckeyes enter the blockbuster season opening games just two wins shy of 1,000 in program history. Achieving that milestone against two powerhouse teams would make the mark all the more sweet.
