Big Ten Hockey today announced its latest round of Stars of the Week. For the sixth time this season the list includes a Buckeye. Matt Weis is the conference’s Second Star, joining Michigan forward Cooper Marody (First Star) and Minnesota goalie Mat Robson (Third Star).

Sean Romeo, Jr. G B1G First Star of the Week No. 11
Matt Weis, Sr. F B1G Second Star of the Week No. 13

Weis helped Ohio State get the second half of the season started right. The senior forward was an offensive force in the Bucks’ sweep of Niagara. He led Friday’s assault with four shots on goal and two off the goal post. Although he didn’t find the back of the net himself, he set up Tanner Laczysnki’s last second game winning goal.

The Freehold, New Jersey native lit the lamp twice on Saturday. Both tallies came with the man advantage. The scores snapped a 0-for-9 skid for the OSU power play. His first goal would also prove to be the winner in a 4-1 victory. Weis boasts points in six of his last seven outings, including the last four straight.

Weis and the Buckeyes are back in action this week. They return to Big Ten play with a battle at Michigan State. Games are scheduled for Friday and Saturday at 7pm ET.
