More than half of Ohio State’s 2025 football players are Academic All-Big Ten honorees.

A program-record 61 Ohio State football players were named Academic All-Big Ten honorees on Wednesday, including many of the Buckeyes’ biggest stars.

Quarterback Julian Sayin, wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate, defensive tackle  Kayden McDonald, linebackers Sonny Styles and Arvell Reese and safety Caleb Downs – arguably the Buckeyes’ top seven players on the field – are among the players who received Academic All-Big Ten recognition, which they earned for having a grade-point average of 3.0 or better.

Other starters who made this year’s Academic All-Big Ten team include wide receiver Brandon Inniss, tight end Will Kacmarek, offensive linemen Austin Siereveld, Luke Montgomery and Carson Hinzman, defensive tackle Tywone Malone Jr. and defensive backs Jermaine Mathews Jr., Lorenzo Styles Jr. and Jaylen McClain.

Ohio State’s 61 Academic All-Big Ten honorees do not include any of its 33 freshmen or 13 players who transferred to Ohio State this year, as players must be enrolled at their institution for 12 months to earn Academic All-Big Ten status, which means only 12 Buckeyes who were eligible for Academic All-Big Ten honors did not earn them.

Ohio State’s full list of Academic All-Big Ten honorees for 2025 can be found in the table below. Players are listed by their academic class, not their year of eligibility.
