Well, that was...a game.

Even after trailing 3-0 at the end of the first quarter – the first time Ohio State has trailed after the first quarter this season – the Buckeyes always seemed to be in control of the game. In the end, OSU beat Purdue, 34-10, in a game in which Ohio State was held scoreless in two of the four quarters.

The Buckeyes scored 24 points in the second quarter and 10 in the fourth quarter while allowing a late touchdown to Purdue, the lone touchdown of the game for the Boilermakers. It seemed like yet another game where Ohio State didn't necessarily completely blow out its opponent, but dominated the game and had it in hand from start to finish.

Jeremiah Smith has 10 catches for 137 yards, 1 touchdown

Without Carnell Tate, who was held out due to precautionary reasons, Smith certainly had a day. The sophomore finished with a career-high 10 catches for 137 yards and a touchdown. After having nine receptions three separate times in his career, Smith was finally able to hit the double-digit mark, catching all 10 passes thrown his way.

In his dominant performance, the best wide receiver in college football had seven catches for 109 yards and a score in the first half.

It was a half that included yet another miraculous catch by a wideout more often referred to as an alien because he makes the extraordinary and incredible look routine.

It was his ninth 100-yard game of his career, fourth of the season and second-straight game he has hit the triple-digit mark.

Julian Sayin completes 82% of his passes for 303 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception

In a game that included arguably Sayin's worst throw of the season, leading to an interception for the first time in his last 173 attempts, the redshirt freshman still put up really good numbers, especially in terms of efficiency and yards.

For the third straight game and fourth time in his last five games, Sayin completed at least 80% of his pass attempts, as the quarterback completed 27 of 33 passes for 303 yards, one touchdown and an interception in the win over Purdue.

His lone score of the game came on a beautifully thrown deep ball to Smith, a connection that was compared to PB&J when it happened. I can't say that I disagree.

Isaiah West Notches 9 carries, 60 yards

These numbers certainly don't seem like much, but when you pull back the curtain, they seem to be trending in the right direction and give us a glimpse of what Ohio State's backfield could look like the rest of the season.

West finished with nine carries for a season-high 60 yards, as the freshman averaged a team-best 6.7 yards per carry. He was also second in carries, behind only Jackson. With that, and after only playing nine snaps against Penn State a week prior, it was the second time in three games that West finished with the second-most carries on the time.

While the Buckeyes played a bunch of players in West Lafayette Saturday afternoon, West might be inching closer to taking the RB2 spot in the backfield, if he hasn't done so already.

Honorable Mention

Jayden Fielding

Fielding made both of his field goal attempts, including a career-long 49-yard field goal.

The kicker has now made 11 of 13 field goal attempts this season.
