As a converted defensive lineman from Detroit, Alabi spent the majority of his Ohio State career at offensive tackle, where he started against Nebraska and Michigan State. He largely was a backup, playing behind Thayer Munford and Branden Bowen as a fifth-year senior in 2019 while also battling injuries.

In his five years as a Buckeye, Alabi's teams racked up a 61-7 record, which includes five wins against Michigan in a row. He also made the College Football Playoff twice and won three Big Ten titles. With Alabi, Ohio State won the 2016 Fiesta Bowl against Notre Dame, 2017 Cotton Bowl against USC and 2019 Rose Bowl against Washington.
