A native of Lorain, Berry spent his Ohio State career on both sides of the ball, eventually settling in at tight end but playing a few defensive snaps as well in his final year in Columbus. The 6-foot-4, 255-pound freakish athlete spent most of his time on offense blocking but collected 17 passes for 198 yards and four touchdowns in his career. As a fifth-year senior in 2019, he caught two passes for 20 yards and played a couple snaps at defensive end in several games.

In his five years as a Buckeye, Berry piled together a combined 61-7 record that features five wins in a row against Michigan. He twice made the College Football Playoff and captured three Big Ten championship. He also won the 2016 Fiesta Bowl against Notre Dame, 2017 Cotton Bowl against USC and 2019 Rose Bowl against Washington.
