A former Ohio State wide receiver is transferring to Cincinnati for the second time this offseason.
L'Christian "Blue" Smith, who left the Ohio State football team this spring after one season with the Buckeyes, announced Thursday that he is transferring to Cincinnati to play for former Ohio State assistant coach Luke Fickell and the Bearcats.

Smith joins former Ohio State walk-on Garyn Prater, who announced his transfer to Cincinnati earlier this month, as the second wide receiver to jump from the Buckeyes to the Bearcats after this spring.
A four-star recruit out of Wayne High School (Huber Heights, Ohio), Smith appeared in three games for the Buckeyes last season but played only five total offensive snaps. In a deep and talented wide receiver room at Ohio State, Smith didn't have a clear path to playing time for the Buckeyes, at least for 2019.
Unless he receives a waiver for immediate eligibility, Smith will be forced to sit out the upcoming season under NCAA transfer rules, after which he will have three remaining seasons of eligibility beginning in 2020.
